I also saw this coming. S101 can be a tough crowd and I feel OP got off on the wrong foot. Truly wish him success and may have a lot to offer, but he should be a little more forthright and less 'zen' IMHO to connect with this crowd.

Spikes are transient (short duration) increases or decreases in voltage. If you want protection from overvoltage (severe overvoltage surge of longer duration) you need a surge protector or preferably one that also conditions the power from transients which most commercial grade surge...

I would be leaning towards just wrapping or using banners on that top tier, with maybe an occasional full length interspersed. Avoid the outlets and obstacles altogether.
