  1. Credit Card Companies

Square, QuickBooks, wave, and PayPal can all do what you want. You need a business account whatever you use. I've heard horror stories of personal venmo(owned by PayPal) accounts being frozen if they suspect them of being used for business. I use the one built into QuickBooks since I can send...
  2. New Guy Printer/Plotter suggestions

We have been happy with our Roland. I haven't really heard any bad things about any of the name brands. A better question is what brands does your local dealer support?
  3. Restore Faded Coroplast, Ideas?

Coro is so cheap it would probably be cheaper to just print new ones than spending time dicking around trying to restore the old ones. You could print vinyl and lay it on the sign, but that's probably more expensive than just printing on new coro. If they wanted permanent signage they should...
  4. Accu-Bend Model 26

It seems to me that the software doesn't like your export settings. My SDS bender software takes splines in dxf, but I can't draw toolpaths until I explode them into poly lines. Hopefully someone can get you the right export settings otherwise keep wrestling with it and post it here for the...
  5. Square pole mount

There are several ways to skin this cat. You could drill and tap the pole and thread in an eyelet, you could weld on an eyelet, your steel and all thread idea sounds good, although I would use unistrut instead of the 1/4 inch steel.
  6. Helmet Decals

A printer cutter setup will work if you don't want to laminate the decals. Otherwise you would need a plotter that can automatically read registration marks like a Graphtec. You can even print a barcode that the Graphtec will scan to bring up the proper cut program.
  7. Die Cutters

I use a 4x8 CO2 laser. A shear or router would work also.
  8. Suggestions Quieting a LOUD Colex SharpCut vac table?

We built a small ventilated shed that's attached to the rear wall of our shop that houses our shop air compressor, dust collector and vacuum pump for our router. Not sure if that's a possibility for you. In the future I plan on building walls for the router to have it's own space.
  9. Needing advice with an HDU project

I would have built the whole thing out of Aluminum or aluminium as you would say over there. They make all kinds of different extrusions that are similar to the shapes you are trying to achieve. If you don't have the capability to fabricate then find someone that does and sub it out. I don't...
  10. Mounting Parking Signs to 1" Diameter Pipe

Not sure you guys read the original post, but the conduit is existing and feeds EV charging stations and therefore is most likely well supported. If it's Ridgid conduit and not EMT it should be fine.
  11. AUTOMATION and WORKFLOW

It's hard to say what you should do because every sign business is a little different. A simple Google sheet that multiple users have access to is a good place to start for free. That and a file server so all job files are organized and accessible on all your machines can do wonders. From your...
  12. Push-through cabinet that is face lit?

I would just glue acrylic letters to a sheet of sign grade acrylic. Polycarbonate doesn't glue well.
  13. Dumb (and possibly profitable) Uses for Large UV Flatbeds?

Faces for signs on acrylic, polycarbonate and acm would be my go to's. A flatbed printer is on my wish list.
  14. 3D Printed Dimensional Letters

I considered the 3D printed letter thing. It's just too slow, and the size limitations are an issue. I could cut several sheets of numbers before one number is done printing. For the most part material costs are minuscule compared to labor.
  15. Edge trim for light box

Sand and repaint like Gino said. I would have tried to sell them a full refurb. Remove the cabinet, repaint the box and retainers. Install new led modules (especially if it has florescents).
  16. attaching ACM to steel frame

If you could fill in the space between the faces with a cheap substrate such as wood or foam you could laminate the whole thing together and use no fasters. You would essentially be creating your own composite panel sandwiched around the frame. This would also stiffen your faces so they won't...
  17. CNC pricing for other sign shops?

I've stopped cutting materials for other shops. It's not worth the hassle. It seems I always have to do a bunch of clean up, or redraw their files. Then they want to provide their own materials. For it to be worth my time it would need to be $400-$500 minimum.
  18. Illuminated Fab Letters - Installation

I think it's refered to as down under rather than down there.
  19. Illuminated Fab Letters - Installation

In my state our license allows us to make connections that are within 6 feet of the sign. Further than that we have the customer hire an electrician. Your state licensing code should tell you what you're allowed to do.
  20. Question Does anyone use Google Ads?

For $10 a day we put one up. Got three decent jobs from it on the first day. It more than pays for itself. I'm sure every market is a little different so your mileage may vary.
