  1. Who you gonna call....

So, printing 18oz blockout banner material..> This roll has been rolled up and ive used it some over the last year... load it up and print this banner. I can see this the first few feet from grabbing the roll maybe... but again and again for ten feet? No sir, im calling a priest LOL
  2. What to do with my old JV33? New JV300 coming in a few weeks.

So, I pulled the trigger and am getting a new JV300-160 couldnt be happier, but have my jv33-130 sitting here that's still a productive workhorse... I just need the wider prints and faster production (im tired of printing all night). I have been thinking about using the jv300 for only banners...
  3. FYI a way to fix laminator rollers with cuts instead of replacing...

someone needs to buy that coworker a beer!
  4. Solvent vs Latex.

I would have gone latex, but my print room is small.. the thing would fry me... and the climate control isnt all that great either.
  5. Solvent vs Latex.

Update: I have decided to go with solvent. I'm deciding between the Mimaki jv300-160 or the Mutoh 1638x. Both seem comparable, so it will likely come down to financing options. I am leaning toward the Mimaki since i am most comfortable in that ecosystem. I also get the idea that the Mutoh...
  6. Solvent vs Latex.

Hmm, what about Mimaki vs HP? Ive been tempted to keep the 54" Mimaki for print and cut jobs, and using the latex for banners.... do the new mimaki's use the old rasterlink rip?
  7. Solvent vs Latex.

I'm possibly going to make the plunge and grab another wide format printer. My JV-33 is getting long in the tooth, and honestly I could use a 64" or wider printer instead of my 54" Now, here's where I am torn. Should I get another solvent printer, or grab a latex? Plus for latex - My...
  8. Error 205 47v print head voltage

Dont know if anyone is following this... but i will keep you posted if you are. I swapped the slider board with a new one on Tuesday, and that board was bad. Put my old one back in, and it has run flawlessly since then. I dont know if the error will come back or not, but will print as much as...

Unplugged it and plugged it in about 10 times... it finally booted. It just gets weirder and weirder.
  12. Error 205 47v print head voltage

Here's an update. I called in Ed from Inkjet Solutions, he replaced the trailing cable, checked voltage across the boards, replaced the fuse on the main board, did some preventative maintenance (new drive pulleys, etc) -- but of course the machine acted like everything was fine when he was...
  13. Error 205 47v print head voltage

This started a year ago. I got this error, let the machine sit, and eventually it would come back on. After a few weeks of getting this error ever few days, I replaced the head cable, and it ran fine until now. 10 days ago, I got this error, and after leaving it unplugged overnight it came...
  14. Do I repair my JV33, or do I take it to the dump?

Knock on wood, im running a jv33... 5 years old.. original print head. I have had issues a few times with my printer, but you have to consider all the parts are consumables. I have decided a new capping station, dampers and pump every year or two is well worth what this machine ca, and has...
  15. I dont believe in coincidences... bad cartridge?

Replaced both the Cyan and Magenta dampers. Cap, and pump. Still getting a color fade from beginning of 10 ft print to the end. It starts darker and fades lighter.
  16. I dont believe in coincidences... bad cartridge?

Swapped cartridge, printed 20 feet... same result... lightens up over the print. So that's out. Guess ill order a capping station, pump, and dampers tomorrow.
  17. I dont believe in coincidences... bad cartridge?

Today I was out on an install and let the printer run while I was gone. I get a phone call from someone here at the shop, and he's asking me what to do after putting in a new ink cartridge. (you know, the whole, push enter, then push remote thing) .... I come back and the banners ive printed...
  18. JV-33 Error 205, have replace cable

Test draw looks good, everything appears to be functioning well today. No errors yet *fingers crossed*
  19. JV-33 Error 205, have replace cable

Honestly I don't know which board is which, just knew that the cable with the two bends in it was supposedly notorious for messing up, so I ordered it and replaced it first. (its the cable that plugs into the side of the head and goes to the board up top under a small square cover (im guessing...
