I'm only 23 and I have been doing signs full time since I was 18. i started though when I was 14 and working for my dads sign business and I know most of those but there are a couple I don't know, but you telling me I'm not truly in the sign business because of that makes you sound nuts. I do...
Heck you'll be fine. With those bigger companies come the bigger prices and the slower turnaround because there so busy aparantly all the time. You will be fine but off topic I loved the new sign you had on your building.
I personally would get $2.90 a sq. ft. on the banners. But then again I do a huge differance on quanity over 12 or anything with 10 sq ft atleast. If I were to sell them without the discount I would sell them for $4.50 a sq. If you can get that I'd go for that for sure.
I would vectorize logos and do the whole thing in vinyl. I think $90 is fair though if you were to come into my shop and get it I qould quote it out at $65 ea. Then again the market I am in is sadly a whorish market with the normal garage guy setup trying to steal all the business. Isn't that...
I was doing 12 semi trucks with 4'x8 full color prints and I rented scaffolding for a few days. It was a real pain in the butt though. When they came back and ordered 48 more making it a total of 60 semi trucks 2 sided I broke down and payed the $200 a piece for a couple of scaffolds and it...
I'll have to agree and say Graphtec plotters are great but if you can't afford a more expensive machine I would buy a Copam 2500. It is a 24" plotter but to be honest I do have 1 for backup and side jobs and the machine is as good as anyone I have ever had. I personally like DGI Omegas but...
I would price it as...
I would definatlly agree with getting rid of the scrolls on the corners. I was looking it over and for both trucks I would have to say around $1600 installed. My question is though what are you using for vinyl? 9 yr? 7 yr? 4yr? You have to make sure its not a shorter...
I have a graphtec, dgi omega and a copam and if you are looking for a good plotter that isn't going to be super expensive I would suggest a Copam. The DGI Omega is an absolute workhorse and a great cutter but the $2200 24" price tag is a little steep and same with graphtec
LG 6000 (6 yr life) i say 5 though for short term signs and avery for nicer longer lasting signs and vehicles....you'll be please with LG as far as cost goes for LG 4000 though being as im only paying $57 for 24" b/w and $63 for 24" colors
I've cut out many things with my cutter...granted I have a new star omega that in the specs says it can cut ot magnetic....Id definatlly print the magnetic on vinyl and well if you want give your plotter a shot and scoring the magnetic and the tearing the access waste off
acrylic
if i were you i would defintally use acrylic which you can get in red...the light shines through very nicely but yet you can still read the sign as well...now if your printing the image why not use a clear plexiglass and just print a large transperant print? that would still be pretty...
I'm working in a cramped 900 sq ft place with no parking hardly or bays but then again can i complain when its on the corner of the main st in town? I guess not but if I had it my way I would knock down the wall with the building next to me and make it into around a 2200sq ft shop but who knows...
I must say i use winpc sig pro 2007 and though its fairly new i love it i mean you can do outlines and shadows and stripes and everything else you could on just bout anyother program my only wish is that they still made casmate for the plotter i have the was by far the greatest program ever in...
