Instead of exporting just use the Edit/Duplicate function(Duplicate is in the Edit menu) . Then change the contour (assuming it's be separated) to a regular stroke Arrange/Contour Cut/Release Contour Cut

+1 Just got a new mat a few weeks ago and printed a banner with a grid and put it underneath. Works great.

I went from Mutoh outdoor 48 to a used Roland SC540. THe difference is like night and day. But I don't know about the newer Motoh's.

Yup.. all alone with my 54" SC540 and laminator. I agree with most, that you should go big or go home. Just think about it: Most substrates come in 4'x8'. Very handy for billboards too. I had a Mutoh Falcon which only took 48" material and only printed out to 46" or so... what a pita. Glad...

If I had to stock only one I'd go with Oracal 3551ra. Excellent all around product. Easy to apply and priced right. And go with Oracal 220 laminate. It's a good place to start. My guess is that once you start printing you'll be surprised at how much material you will go through. I...

Decent marks on creativity/fun factor. Not as good on legibity/usability (but good if it's not to be seen from very far away.)

You make a good point Doug. But let's take Sign Fabrication. Some customers would think that just means large signs or doesn't include artwork. I used to use the words 'Sign Artist'. But that makes it look like I'm just a one-man show.
