  1. What's "straight" on a van?

Not sure what to make of it. If it were my client they would probably remark that it's crooked but if it isn't one of the difficult ones they would probably let it be...but personally I'd have it re-done. Your work is an advertisement of you and if you let things like this slide it's just gonna...
  2. Dr. has left the house and it's not good

Eh, when a technician in our trade, or actually in most industries, tells you that there is only one way to fix something and that is to replace the whole thing (the motherboard in this case) it actually means that it is the easiest way. That's like taking your computer that's full of viruses...
  3. Making business cards at your shop?

We only do business cards if it's an existing client and we do all of their other work. Our business model is that we do everything. We create the brand, come up with a name if they don't have one, create the designs for billboards, wall scapes, banners, cars, t-shirts, business card, we make...
  4. Why do my panels never line up?

Just talked to one of my guys that operates our VS-640 frequently. He says that as far as overlaps are concerned he only does the automatic 10mm overlap in the tilling in VersaWorks and that he never had this issue with the Roland. He had the issue with another printer of ours but he attributes...
  5. Why do my panels never line up?

Does this happen on the sides (left and right) of the vinyl or on the length ? If it's the sides I can maybe offer an explanation. Unfortunately this happens a lot in my shop as well when I'm not installing the media myself and I constantly throw tandruds because of it to make sure that...
  6. What's "straight" on a van?

It's definitely not just you, on the photo it looks crooked. As far as leveling goes, as pretty much every car is at least a bit different I'd find a line that looks leveled and then put the work on there, with either magnets or by taping it to the truck and then move away from the truck a bit...
  7. Sign Ideas / Types Of Signs

So far we either did channel letters, 3cm foamex indirect lit letters or custom shape signs with a acrylic face and translucent graphics on. From our products I personally like the 3cm indirect lit ones, basically backlit dimensional letters, best. They're really pretty and classy. What I'm...
  8. Sign Ideas / Types Of Signs

Hiya everyone, We currently have a bit of time on our hands and want to put it to good use. We are making samples of different types of signs, mainly to show potential clients. Currently we're working on 3cm foamex letters painted to high gloss, one version has indirect lighting while the...
  9. HP 9000 is dying. Do we replace with HP latex or Epson EcoSolvent?

Amen Brotha! Something else to consider if you're not hell bound on the Metallics is the RE. It's fairly cheap and it can be pushed to some 20-30 sqm/h if you really need those kinds of speeds. It really comes down to what you really want. If you want a general purpose machine something...
  10. HP 9000 is dying. Do we replace with HP latex or Epson EcoSolvent?

We have a VS-640 and considered getting a high production eco solvent printer. The problem with eco solvent, especially the cheaper kind, is that it simply doesn't have the outdoor durability. Of course this depends on your needs but for us we need to be able to have prints for at least 2 years...
  11. Mimaki ES3 inks changed over. Don't need silver...

I still have them in my white/metalic slots. If you use the right cleaning solution it shouldn't damage them no and it is essential that you use the right kind.
  12. How To Cut Really Small Parts

How would bridges solve the issue ? Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The problem isn't that I can't hold a small part to cut it, it's that if I use a 1mm bit the chips just melt and you can't remove the thing you've cut from the rest of the material. If I use a 4mm bit it messes up the final...
  13. How To Cut Really Small Parts

We have a small CNC mill and we're in the works of getting a laser. One question I have though, that I can't find an answer to anywhere, other than "you don't" is how do you cut really small parts ? Here's some background to clarify the question. When we want to cut really small acrylic...
  14. How often does this happen to you..............??

Oh and regarding the point about signs as samples and such...I never said that you had to tuck it all in a filling cabinet :) As far as I'm concerned you can find a corner and just dump it all there, as long as it's all in one place.
  15. How often does this happen to you..............??

Sure, my guys tell me that every time I bring up the organization effort. They're like - but, and that's very important to note, if you never get the time to straighten those things out, including the phone calls and all, it's only gonna pile up more and you're gonna lose more things...ad...
  16. HP 9000 is dying. Do we replace with HP latex or Epson EcoSolvent?

That's a very good point. In our case it was not relevant though as our dealer was an idiot and we have to service out printers ourselves cause they don't dare do much more than take the covers off and we know more about the printer than they do. Some of those points are really interesting...
  17. How often does this happen to you..............??

Quite Welcome. If you want to know anything or have trouble with sticking to it, let me know.
  18. Computer problems?

    All very funny.
  19. To Roland or not to Roland.

We have a VS-640 and do these from time to time, mostly because we do everything for our customers from brand creation through design, over both wide format, digital and offset print. So basically if you're working with us, you don't have to shop anywhere else, we do it all. So we do small...
