  1. thoughts on the Vision 2550 engraver router?

Gigi, we don't own one, but I know a number of people that have owned them over the years and I became friends with the local rep who had been selling engraving equipment for 20 years or so. We used to talk about it all the time and he said the machines were very solid and well built and he...
  2. Routing TREX

We loved Spraylat. We didn't use it a lot, but loved their Series 20 line. We were really disappointed when we went to order some a while back and were told "SprayLat was bought by Matthews and they are shutting it down for the most part". We were told Matthews bought them to acquire some of...
  3. RGB to CMYK conversion

520C within 5 degrees of precision, according to my CMYK to Pantone script thing.
  4. Laminator disaster

Has anyone seen the push push gauge listed at any suppliers? Grimco was mentioned but I can't locate it on their site and I don't find much of anything in the normal places. We recently acquired an old Seal laminator and we're having the same issues. I've rebuilt the air cylinders and adjusted...
  5. Looking for Aluminum

I'm not positive, but I think that's normally called Architectural aluminum angle. That might help you in your search. It's normally got a good finish on it as well as clear anodizing. This might get you heading in the right direction ...
  6. Basic help with my EPILOG laser...

Just so you know, Epilog has FREE phone support. They'll help you as long as you need over the phone. It's not restricted to the original owner of the machine. They don't care. Just tell them what model, what software you are using, the issues and you'll get all the help your brain can hold.
  7. Basic help with my EPILOG laser...

One thing to do is setup a piece of scrap, sent it over, then change the settings on the fly, start low and work up as it engraves down the piece. You'll find the best setting for it while doing that. Wright that down and use that next time you send it over, or save it in your settings for that...
  8. Basic help with my EPILOG laser...

Yes, that's rastering. You normally set the outside to red and make sure it's a hairline thickness (not sure what the term is in your software, but the driver looks at color and thickness of the line). Then you set the text to engrave as black. In the driver, when you tell it to print, you can...
  9. Basic help with my EPILOG laser...

I don't understand your comment "I'm trying to engrave off". You don't engrave off anything. You vector cut the text and pictograms. You can certainly do that with color mapping different colors, if, what you are saying is that you applied the 1/32" ADA substrate to the 1/16" substrate and...
  10. marble vinyl?

Oh, didn't realize your location! Yes, that's where we got it! It's like an old military base. Tight security as well. I think it was about $700-800 per sheet about 4-5 years ago.
  11. marble vinyl?

It comes right from the factory. When we bought it, Mitsibishi was the seller. It's really expensive stuff and expensive to ship as well. The sheets are huge. I said 5', but they might even be 6' tall sheets about 15' long. I don't know the exact dimensions, but I know it was the biggest sheet...
  12. marble vinyl?

Here's a couple photos. One is the face and the other is the edge.
  13. marble vinyl?

That's a panel from Alpolic. I have about a 5' x 10' piece here. I have a sample of it in my lobby. I'll take a photo and post it when I get a chance. Amazing product. It'll last 20 years outside with little to no fading at all. It really is beautiful and the stuff seems to last forever.
  14. Onyx Production House v11 Job Layout issue

Onyx tech support solved it. There's some setting in a file in the onyx filesystem that has some memory allocation values in it. He logged into my computer, opened that file, changed it, and it immediately fixed the problem. Thought I'd post that here in case someone down the road runs into it.
  15. Onyx Production House v11 Job Layout issue

I am slightly stumped at the moment with an issue in the Job Layout side of Onyx Production House. In my previous attempts to use it, I have gone to the "Image" tab, and selected the PDF or TIFF I had saved. It would show up in the list, I could check it, which would put it on the layout...
  16. Etched Aluminum-Safety Orange

One note, the material thickness is specified as .032" aluminum. That's quite thin. Chemical etching deep enough to get the fill is going to take a little depth. Since that sign is double sided, I'm not sure it would be possible to get very deep with it being double sided. Just something to pay...
  17. Onyx Production House - getting started question

Perfect, thanks guys! That's exactly what I needed to know. Bikecomedy, sorry for the confusion, I thought you understood I was trying to understand the cut server in Onyx, not cut master from Graphtec. I apologize if I wasn't clear on that, I do appreciate you trying to help.
  18. Onyx Production House - getting started question

I've already done that, I have it all hooked up and installed, I just need to understand how it's getting the information for cutting. Does it automatically just cut the outside of whatever shapes are there, or do you need to do something special in Illustrator to define the cut lines?
  19. Onyx Production House - getting started question

Thanks Bikecomedy, I'm trying to use the cut server from Onyx, not cut master. We've been using cut master for years now. I'm good with that. I'm trying to understand how to cut from Onyx Cutserver.
  20. Onyx Production House - getting started question

Thanks Bikecomedy, I have been watching a lot of videos from a variety of places. The profile part is done and we're able to print. My cutter is setup, I haven't found a video that shows what onyx defines as a cut path. Does it have to be a different layer, with a solid shape, a vector outline...
