As far as I know, if you tell it it's a contour cut job, it automatically shrinks the max roll width within Onyx to accommodate the marks. And I've never had an issue with them being too close. Are you getting mark scan errors on the plotter? If it's too far off your job I would suggest...

If you have an older version of Onyx, you can purchase the agreement and it will update you to the latest version.

Maybe try it yourself? I've replaced a main board on an FC8000 (well not replaced, but had it out to add a network card to it) It wasn't very hard, but I can't speak for that plotter specifically.
