  1. OK just finished my first box trailer

On the second pic you can see the checkerboard on the door at the top is lower than the on the graphic at the right. When she designed this she factor in that we wouldn't be doing anything with the trim and since it goes from top to bottom it effectively makes the one side three separate panels...
  2. OK just finished my first box trailer

I did add a 1" overlap. The issue is that with those ribs if something lined up in the middle if wouldn't line up at the ends until I followed all those ribs. As I look back should have just started at the top and just worked down keeping track and adjusting as I went.
  3. OK just finished my first box trailer

OK as the title says just did my first box trailer (8'x21') and have one nagging question. How do you line up the prints from sheet to sheet? First though you need to see what I was dealing with. Every 8 inches or so a horizontal rib. If we just started at the top, as we went over each of...
  4. Small quanities of vinyl

Try ebay. I have seen sellers there cut down stuff like Oracal 551 into sizes that people with Cricut's (sp?) can use.
  5. Laminator disaster

I also did some tinkering with the pressure. The left side pressure was way more than the left.
  6. Laminator disaster

Wanted to update this thread and also thank everyone who posted. With the front feeder and the back take up reel its working great I just did 96+ feet of 54" material for a trailer and it only wavered an 1/8" back and forth. I think it was due to the fact that the vinyl was not 100% squared up...
  7. Do I need or want Flexi

I have a New Mimaki JV33-130 and a CG-130FX II. Also we have an old Roland SP-300 . We are used to using Versaworks for everything with design done in Adobe Illustrator CS5. By design I mean mostly adding cut lines or other tweaks to graphics provided by others. With the Mimaki machines we are...
  8. roland sp540v contour cutting problem.... so frustrated HELP PLEASE!!!

It could be the long ribbon cable that connects the cut carriage to the main board. I have replaced two in 6 years. Not sure if this is the cable techsign33 is referring to . Though for me it would pop up and down erratically before it stopped all together.
  9. What to do when a customer supplies you with another sign company's drawing/design?

I used to frequent a t shirt forum and copyright issues came up every few weeks. Note I'm not a lawyer just relating what was posted by others, some lawyers, that had more knowledge than me. First there is no set amount of changes you can make to a drawing to make it your own and totally...
  10. Transferring Stickers from one release paper to another

Ok another way if you can't print on the back of the OEM liner. Print the logo on clear or white to cover the lines and laminate it to the back. OP I know thats not what you are looking to do but is your client willing to pay maybe double or more ( a quick guess for all the extra hand work)...
  11. Laminator disaster

OK how do you web this laminator for the printed vinyl. I tried using the front roller that came with it but the way the bracket is angled it just pulls it off of it. So thats why I got the extra front feed which is working for me for at least 30" material. So I guess I'm going to go back...
  12. Laminator disaster

Sorry missed this yesterday. So are you saying don't use the roller?
  13. Transferring Stickers from one release paper to another

I'm confused can you buy a certain release paper without the vinyl? I thought the release paper and the vinyl are designed to work together. Also every time I have tried to restick vinyl back on to the release paper even the one that came with the vinyl its never the same as from the factory.
  14. Laminator disaster

When you say more tension you are probably looking at the photo before I started it rolling. That's as tight as I can get it. I don't have the table on when I web the bottom it but unless I defeat an interlock, I have to run the material with it on.
  15. Laminator disaster

OK got it around the roller and into the nip. Now my issue is how do I end the job? Before when it was on the table I would use some left over backer paper as a leader. After I finished the job, the best I could do has to raise the nip and slide some paper underneath the graphic. Maybe I...
  16. Applying Laminate By Hand?

We did 210 all the time even without the double sided tape using two people helped. The 290 optically clear was another story and had to use the tape method. Luckily we only use the Big Squeegee to mount stuff on boards. Also as posted above you do need a good flat surface.
  17. Laminator disaster

Not sure if this is the right way but this is what I did. I made two pieces of banner material with grommets and put them on each end of the rollers. I closed the nip until the rollers touched with a little pressure. I then pulled on each one with steady force to get a steady reading. I...
  18. Laminator disaster

Ok now that I'm back in the office I have attached some pics to show you what I'm dealing with. (wow I have hairy arms:smile:) Not a lot of room in there. The other issue is that removing the table is a major pain. You have to make sure the guides are locked down (or they slide off) and then...
  19. Laminator disaster

I did my best to Create a drawing on my tablet. This is how the rollers are laid out. The Blue path would be the way the material should be webbed, the red path is reality. You shove the material in and it just rides up the back. There is no room to get your fingers in there to try to pull...
  20. Laminator disaster

According to this from royal sovereign this how you load the material with the front roller accessory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C87I3XhZ3U&feature=youtube_gdata_player Here is how to load it without the front feeder...
