If you are a NAPP member then photoshopuser.com is the best place (one of their merchants anyway) Sometimes you can get products heavily discounted just for being a member. Most PANTONE products are 15-20% off through NAPP and they come right from PANTONE so there is no middleman to deal with.
I would imagine your running black with a high mix of magenta to make a rich looking black, so that would definitely eat up more magenta ink then you might originally think.
FolderSizes I got this a while back to see where the large amounts of files are allocated across our network in the office and I love it. Really helps to analyze your storage especially once you cross into the terabytes of storage and backups. They also make an application called Duplicate File...
Yes, its a worthwhile investment. I would make it a point (if you have broadband access at the office and home perhaps) to buy two units, keep one on site and one off-site such as your home and schedule the back-ups that way. Backing up your data to a 2nd source is useless if there is a...
According to one of the people who was showing CS4 off at Photoshop World the main improvement will be the 64-bit for Windows operating systems. They are releasing the 64-bit Mac edition later on because Apple had problems with Carbon 64. As far as it being leaked...its been leaked since...
Another thing to check is to see if you accidentally turned on "Zoom All Windows" Click the Zoom tool and up top you should see a check box to see if this is turned on. If it is then sometimes when you have too many windows open and you minimize Photoshop when you pull it back up your windows...
Aside from Lynda.com being some of the best money you can spend for learning, I would highly suggest becoming a member of the NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) The discounts they provide pay for the membership fee. Not to mention they had a discount a while back for a...
Very simple process, if you have your Smart Object selected in the Layers Palette, double-click the Smart Object icon on that layer, it will open Illustrator, edit your file in Illustrator, click Save and go back into Photoshop...the file will update according to your last changes in...
The only time I really find myself using this feature is to do a layer style or effect in Photoshop on a particular layer that cannot be done in Illustrator so I can move it right into Illustrator and retain the same cut contours that are set up.
Not entirely true. You can paste the object in as a path or a shape layer. The nodes will remain editable but it will all be laid out in wire frame basically until you fill the paths with color, but it can still be done.
You can literally copy and paste the vector artwork into Photoshop as a SmartObject. That way if you want to use it in a vector based program later its still editable by its nodes.
If you are sending the file to print as a psd make sure you either create the effect on its own layer or flatten the image entirely. Photoshop effects have been known to cause undesirable effects after being processed in a RIP so the end result may not be what you saw on the screen, just...
my assumption would be that the designer of the original file set the crop marks or trim path already as if the file would be setup for an offset job (very common problem) so flexi is trying to cut the wrong path because of this.
I never thought it was meant for a design/layout purpose. I always understood that it was just for a general presentation to give to a client in a rather fancy way as opposed to just a 2D mock-up. Correct me if I am wrong.
