  1. XR-640 cutting weird, incomplete

Blade holder is good, no obstruction or sticking. Also changed out the white cutting strip…no dice. I have firearm notices to weed and it’s been a freakin nightmare. Having to xacto cut so many letters by hand
  2. XR-640 cutting weird, incomplete

My xr 640 just started doing this (see pics) where it won’t finish a cut line around … basically anything. This just started happening. I’ve tried changing pressure, speeds, blades (does same with 45 and 60) What can I do to fix this??
  3. I it possible to change an XR-640 from 8 ink to 6 ink mode?

We're blowing thru white and light grey a lot lately on cleaning cycles -- is there a way to change the printer's mode to not use slots 7 and 8? I know to flush out the white really good and to put in the foam insert thingies -- and going to 6 inks will affect the color reproduction somewhat...
  4. Key combination to purge VW Dual job listing during startup?

Scenario: VW crashes, and you have GOT to get this one thing printed NOW. Restarting VW takes forever because you haven't gotten around to purging the job list. Does VW have a key or keyboard combo you can hold down during startup that will either purge the job list or set it aside until next...
  5. Caldera VisualRIP 8+ cutlines are always 0.12" off??

This is weird but not a big deal -- but anytime I generate cutlines from caldera or rip files with cutcontours they're opening up in Optiscout 0.12" off to the left. I have to select them all (but not the reg marks) and bump them over. Then everything cuts fine. Anyone run into this? We're too...
  6. How fancy do I need? (Xrite i1, Spyder or ??) FB700/Roland XR640

I think it's time to color calibrate our screens to our printers and new ink types. Which color calibrators have yall had success with? I've used the Xrite Studio at an offset print company, but it didn't play well with our Epson 36" wideformat (the dot pattern was too loose/grainy for it to...
  7. CutContour line present, but not parsing in Caldera VR 8. Also, cutlines are shifted 0.1" to left

This has been happening a lot lately -- AI files with CutContour spot color on a stroke-- not showing up in VR8. I have to pop the AI file into InDesign, then apply the CutContour on a shape. Then it works fine. Another weird thing: CutContours output from VR8 to Colex OXF files have to be...
  8. Need Help how to deal with cuts for long murals?

For extra-long runs—at least with our Roland— we don’t use the take-up reel and just guide the print carefully on the (freshly cleaned) floor. Take-ups can cause uneven tension and make the print skew or worse, stretch the vinyl.
  9. These errors always show, but it still prints?!??

I’d love to upgrade this old geezer but we don’t have near enough in the budget to even DISCUSS IT
  10. These errors always show, but it still prints?!??

Attached are two screenshots of the errors I always get when sending a job to our HP FB700. Ive kinda figured out the SIG error has something to do with it can’t find a drive or something…yet it still prints. anybody else encounter these? If so, what did you do to get rid of it??
  11. Can white ink be used as opaque last pass? (Windshield stickers)

Our XR-640 has white ink but never used it. We’ve been doing a crap ton of windshield stickers — which requires a LOT of steps. 1. Print in reverse on clear 2. Laminate with white vinyl 3. Xacto Cut and peel out registration marks 4. Cut stickers from sheet, and pray it hasn’t stretched Can...
  12. Muffler/silencer for Colex vac table?

I may have already asked this—if so itd have been awhile ago. Does anyone have suggestions for quieting down a Colex vac table? There are six vac pumps under it, and despite wearing earplugs AND ear cans it’s still so freakin loud. I looked at car mufflers but they’re a tad too bulky. What can...
  13. FB700 says material is longer than what I punch in...

Weirdness -- I punched in 18" length for a coroplast sign (as usual) The Scitex then says it's 36.5" long. Prints fine, but this is just WEIRD. The ripped job says 18". The file itself is 18". The actual resulting print is 18". It's just the measurement displayed onscreen is off. Anybody...
  14. Versaworks Dual Layout Window not showing preview of jobs?

Not a big deal but puzzling -- our VWD won't show previews of jobs in the right-hand side pane. I've toyed around with the prefs but can't find anything to address it. Is this known to happen in Dual?
  15. Has anyone rebuilt/repaired an oscillating knife?

The little motor inside of it had burned out, and the replacement was super cheap, but Colex called us back and offered to take care of it for a LOT less (and upgrade us to the latest motor type) So we should be good.
  16. Has anyone rebuilt/repaired an oscillating knife?

We use it for cutting 3mm and 6mm foam board—easy lightweight stuff. Haven’t unscrewed the motor enclosure yet to see what needs fixing. One day it just quit turning on. No warning, no odd noises —just it’s usual ‘barber clippers’ noises. Smooth and quiet.
  17. Has anyone rebuilt/repaired an oscillating knife?

Colex wants $1500 to rebuild this little guy. I'm tired of these little issues nickle-and-diming me these last two years. Who's repaired one of these?
  18. Caldera VisualRIP8 has constant errors, but still pushes jobs to printer just fine

We're running VisualRip8 on an ancient intel iMac. It works great except when sending over to our Scitek. There's always an error (I've looked them up -- it's a generic x11 error relating to network drives not responding quick enough) Is there a way I can adjust or change Caldera to quit being...
  19. IPA is damaging our coroplast -- printing shows it and it's BAD

I started adding water to our IPA spray bottles and that's helped, but not entirely. Our suppliers (Grimco and GSG) have NO CLUE where their coro comes from, except if its the canadian stuff...
  20. IPA is damaging our coroplast -- printing shows it and it's BAD

I've used IPA to get rid of my greasy fingerprints before printing on our UV HP700, but lately everytime I clean coro with IPA it will leave streaks, large swaths of altered surface (flat matte, while rest of the areas are normal) and sometimes it won't even cut the fingerprints off. I've tried...
