  1. HELP! Something tougher than MESH!

80 mph?!! Wow, cat-1 hurricanes begin to register at 70mph here in Florida!! Maybe a thin, braided cable could be laced in somehow for added support. Don't know how you would keep the hardware from snapping when the banner doesn't give out.
  2. Your sign estimating software

I fly by the seat of my pants and work it out as I go based on past experience. $50-70 per hour for labor plus a healthy mark up on materials, in case I bungle up a job and don't want to loose my a$$. Here is a quickie cheat sheet if your ever at a complete loss...
  3. Another scam

Tell her to send you the vin#'s as well as the art. Then call the local sheriff to see if they are stolen or who they are registered to. If the listed owner can't sign the invoice (with attached mechanics lien) and make a reasonable deposit, then no go.
  4. I hate some people.....

Once a 'client' starts yelling at me, it's over. There is no excuse for that. If you continue she will pick over everything and try to hold you for ransom unless you stick to your original policy of payment in full. Good Luck.
  5. If you were to move...

We have been kicking around the idea of Boulder, Colorado for about a year. Very laid back with an active art scene. Our second choice on the short list is Houston,Texas. No state taxes on income there but it may be too conservative for my liking. However if California repeals prohibition...
  6. Hello from West Coast Ireland

    Greetings from central Florida....
  7. Anyone that knows much about photography AND printing?

That's what I would do. Thin a little oil based paint in a cup, load your gun and shoot it on the perf. Since this thread is a few weeks old, maybe you can tell us what you went with.
  8. Caption this

    1. Oh great... Another blond with brown roots.. 2. Hmm...I guess that wont matter from this angle!
  9. exchange my window tint knowledge for your sign busines knowledge

Happens all the time. Take a young guy and teach him how to make $200-$1000 a day and his head swells...until next week when he's blown it all and begins looking for work again. Classic example.
  10. Hey Orlando!

I-drive is mostly a tourist dump and also a good place to get robbed at gunpoint (they don't tell you that in the brochures). Their are plenty of great places to eat for all ethnic varieties. Vietnamese, Thai, Greek (with traditional dancing), Irish, Colombian, Mexican food so authentic the...
  11. exchange my window tint knowledge for your sign busines knowledge

@ Deposit^^If only it were that easy. There are as many variables to proper glass tinting as there are in sign making. Any trade can be marginalized and devalued on the surface. ("like slappin' a sticker on a sheet of wood, heck my little girl could do that") sound familiar?
  12. exchange my window tint knowledge for your sign busines knowledge

Too many variables. I apprenticed for 5 months to learn proper tinting techniques and spend another year perfecting my craft(16years ago). No way will you get reliable installers to work for 25% unless you become a full time babysitter. If you really want to learn about the sign biz go to...
  13. Howdy from Florida

    Welcome from down the road!
  14. Hey Orlando!

Unfortunately Rossie O'Grady's has been closed for years. A redevelopment scam where the city gave a ton of cash to a fellow who destroyed much of the historic interior, then went bankrupt and left the shell behind. This area is trying to make a comeback....albeit very slowly.
  15. Hey Orlando!

When my wife and I went we received a private tour, by luck, from Dr. Morse's personal secretary who was probably 90yrs at the time. God Bless her, she was still writing in shorthand on note cards. She is the only person I've met that can still read an write in that form.
  16. Wet or Dry install... Which do you prefer?

At 5:30 on Friday is a great time to wet install just in case... Otherwise mostly dry. As for the mix...50/50 distilled water and denatured alcohol with a small drop of baby shampoo.
  17. Hey Orlando!

The attractions are fun, if you don't mind burning some cash ($80 tix and $30 parking and astronomical food prices. For the real fun in the Orlando area, I would recomend the Morse Museum in Winter Park. Much of Louis Tiffany's glass art is there as well as an entire cathedral made of tiny...
  18. Am I crazy or is 4OVER trying to get "over" on me

Why should he pay anything? He asked for horizontal and got vertical. Also, Thank you RoundMan for the ancient wisdom!
  19. Am I crazy or is 4OVER trying to get "over" on me

Compare the horizontal flutes with what he ordered, with the vertical flutes he received. No way it's his fault. How else would you stake em'?
  20. Am I crazy or is 4OVER trying to get "over" on me

The flutes horizontal at 24"wide is because he will split them in house. Finnish size will be 12"tall x 18"wide.
