1. Ask for the History Report - Check the print hours on the printer -(not the hours the printer has been turned on).
2. Check the shot count of the heads. Head shot average life is about 6 billion (XC has 6 heads...actually 12 if you count correctly).
3.. Look at the Error history and check...
1. Check the pinch rollers for flat spots - replace if needed (about $60/pair)
2. Turn the print heat down just a bit - wrinkling caused by too high heat setting
3. Do NOT use the extra pinch rollers as they will mark your print/cut jobs, you may try using them on banners and print only jobs...
1. Check to see if you have flat spots on the pinch rollers...common if you leave the rollers down when not printing.
2. Tug the media in the center then put the rollers down, this lines up the media to the printer.
3. Call your local Roland tech to take a look.
Then you know to change the switch setting Page 12 from "0" to "1" so the pump runs correctly if you're installing the new style pump. And, don't forget to get the kit for the pump change.

You are way off! There are no "vents" or "one way valves" .... Only a fine screen and area for the ink...you can check your "theory" by blowing at each end of damper...see...no valve(s). There are several manufacturers of the dampers. The cleaning cycle will take care of any excess air, but some...
Use a syringe to draw the ink from the cap. Your heads are in poor shape - the black looks very scratched, and I notice scratches on other heads.... take care of your heads...they cost too much to damage.
First, check the calibration - this is a common "banding" issue. Make sure all your heads are working and the test pattern is perfect. Check the media type, some medias just do not print well, have you used the media before without banding. Check your profile! This is a BIG issue with banding...
You never stated what media you are printing on, try another medai with the same file - you may be surprised that its the MEDIA that's the issue (cheap).
Isn't the printer under warranty? There are several steps in installing the mainboard. Did you FIRST get the parameters off the OLD board? If you didn't, you must remove ALL heads, get the information (numbers) and enter these by hand (and align heads too) ...best to re-install the old board and...
Is the other head printing? If so you may have a blown mainboard fuse ... common when non-techs install heads. Did you unplug the printer before starting to work on it?
Windows 7 works great! Fixes all the glitches with Windows Vista , looks for and downloads program drivers automatically! We run Windows 7 64 bit and works great.
Check for flat spots on the soft rubber pinch wheels. Also, be sure the roll is not cork-screwed on the roll as you feed the media. If it goes in crooked it will walk off the front.
The heads are about $875, it takes about an hour labor to replace the head, align, and do a full service and adjustments to the printer. Do you need a head, or would a good manual cleaning solve the problem?
