  1. Anything better than MR-Clipart?

    Art Station has good templates.
  2. SP300 Head Strikes

I'm pretty sure the SP 300 has a white lever on the head assembly to move the head up or down. It's not marked but its on the upper left side of the head assembly.
  3. Somebody just tell me !!!!

We've had theRoland print/cut printers for years and have had great success with them. Our last one lasted us 11 years with very little problem until the very end. We literally wore it out and used it all day, every day. We recently replaced that machine with a stand alone Roland printer and a...
  4. It's all about apples and oranges

I still remember the good old days before having to bid on a job. We never had to bid on jobs even 10 years ago. The client would call up, have us do the job and say, send me the bill. If we didn't get that they'd ask about the price up front then we just did the job. This current economy has...
  5. Critique Please!

I dig it. Looks very professional
  6. Wrap Certifications. Is it worth it?

I appreciate the insight. Wow, about the first positive thing I've heard. I've signed up for the February class in St Paul. I think it will be worth it.
  7. Printing out of Flexi 10 help

The only thing I can suggest is learning Pgotoshop. It's so much better suited for printing large files like that.
  8. Cutting a Partial Wrap

I did two Astro vans in my shop. 1 was with 3M the other Avery. They were both installed identical, used primer in recesses, post heated, Etc.... The 3M has lifted in quite a few very minor curves and the Avery has not lifted anywhere. It's still perfect. I'm sold on Avery unless a client asks...
  9. What do you charge?

I'll admit probably the biggest mistakes were made in the design process. Good point learning the design process is worth the time.
  10. What do you charge?

Around here we are lucky to get $12/ sq ft plus design. If you design in house that's really the only variable you have. Use that shop rate you calculate to set a rate per hour. In our case we have a shop rate of $75 per hour so we charge that for design. The client knows the clock is ticking...
  11. What do you charge?

I have to say something about the training. I've been in the custom auto graphics business for 28 years. I've laid tons of vinyl and have always been very good at it. Everything I knew, I learned from just doing the job. Developed a really easy system over many years of toning my skills. I tried...
  12. Calculating Wrap Material

Art Station has a wrap calculating software that really would be perfect for what you are needing to calculate. I think the disc is $150 but very worth the expense. It shows every vehicle from every angle you'd need. It shows the vinyl panel sizes for all those angles and even shows the total...
  13. Rear Window Perf - compound curves = liquid lams??

I read a post that said heat and stretch? No no no! You have to think heat and shrink. Position it in the middle and use the heat gun to shrink the outer material. Problem is the curvature causes the material to bunch up so you need less of it not more of it.
  14. Banner Hemming

Another thing that works great on hemming banners is PVC glue. The stuff that you use to glue PVC pipes. It holds better than anything you'll ever use. It literally welds the material together.
  15. Want to sandblast signs

All great advice. Sounds like I need to find the right guy in our area.
  16. Want to sandblast signs

That's a great idea. Would sure love to find one like that in my area
  17. How to connect a new Roland Gx640 plotter to old Flexi 8.1

The only thing Versaworks can do is work with files dragged from the printer. It even says on the que only dragged files can be placed here. They have to be ripped in the printer quest before I can drag them in.
  18. Want to sandblast signs

Very cool stuff. I'd love to do it all in house.
  19. Want to sandblast signs

Do the people you outsource to generally know what to do when it comes to making it look sign worthy?
