  1. Want to sandblast signs

Hey all, I would love to start offering sandblasted signs. I'm familiar with some of the basics like plotting the mask material, needing a two stage air compressor and such. Although I feel confident in trying one where's a good place to start? What equipment would I need to get started? I can...
  2. Logo Pricing For Picky Customers

Oh my God, anybody telling you to pass on this customer obviously has no confidence in their own skills. I think the best advice you got here was this is a challenge. Not the end of the world. Generally "picky" customers have big mouths. So WHEN you come through for her she will brag you up and...
  3. Ready for a printer

I've had quite a few print cut devises. Recently I switched to a stand alone Roland Re640 (which I love by the way!) and a Roland Gx640 plotter. I like having them separate. We've seen a good increase in our productivity because while we are setting up a cut we can keep right on printing. Most...
  4. ICC Profile Newbie Basics

Or they go together as well as Conrad Murray at a Michael Jackson concert
  5. Wrap Certifications. Is it worth it?

I think some of you are misunderstanding the question. I have plenty of experience installing, been in this business for 28 years now. I'm more looking for a business opportunity. My understanding is that on e 3M certifies you that you're placed on their preferred installers list. Potential...
  6. Vehicle wrap templates

I realize that while the advice to make your own template is good if you have experience with Photoshop, enough to properly scale out a whole vehicle it's probably not for you. If not done properly it can cost you big time. Go for accurate quick and easy. Art station has a great template...
  7. Show quality

I guarantee it will be more than 3 days. The removal of all the hardware, especially if you're doing inside door jambs will take 1 whole day to accomplish and that's just taking it apart. You'll have several parts that were removed that will need to be wrapped as well. Honestly unless you are...
  8. How to connect a new Roland Gx640 plotter to old Flexi 8.1

I have a new Roland Gx640 plotter that I need to connect to Flexi 8.1. Unfortunately the program is so old it doesn't recognize this new machine. Any suggestions?
  9. Tech Fees

I've done a ribbon cable replacement on that machine. It sucks. Took me almost a whole day.
  10. Wrap Certifications. Is it worth it?

It's probably been answered but I would love to hear your input. I have an opportunity to get Certified through 3M and Avery. Just wondering what everyone who is certified has experienced by being certified. Can I expect to get more bids for installs? Will I be able to get more clients outside...
  11. VS-640 issues

I have been running Marabu inks for several years and have had NO I repeat NOOOO issues with color variations whatsoever. To suggest this problem is because of using 3rd prty ink is preposterous! According to the US Supreme Court it is unlawful for a manufacturer to place restrictions like...
  12. Whose wrap templates are you using?

yeah we use all three, Bad Wrap, Vehicle Outlines, and Art Station. Just depends on which vehicle we need.
  13. Mimaki Users ... Reviews Wanted

Heres a review. I ordered a Mimaki JV33 after owning a Roland for 10 years. Mimaki does not support Eco-sol inks with any profiles and the vinyl manufacturers don't either. They wanted me to switch to full solvent which has plenty of profiles. Downside, the ink is toxic and smells horrible. They...
  14. Looking for camouflage pattern

Be careful with the Fellers material. It's callendered material. Doesn't work great on really complex curves.
  15. Which printer to buy?

Just curious to get a discussion going of which printer do I get. I currently have a Roland and have had good success with it. We're looking to add another printer and like the price of the Mutoh and the accessories it comes with. Any suggestions?
  16. printing

Heres what I do. Create your image in Flexi, save it as an eps. Reopen it in Photoshop as an rgb color and set the dpi up to 150 or higher. Once it comes up in Photoshop save it over the original eps you saved then open that up in your rip program. It takes a little extra time but you will be...
  17. Overspray on SP540v

My sp540 is doing the exact same thing, only mine is black and cyan. I have to clean the encoder strip 3 times a day and it's spraying all over the inside. I replaced the dampers, no change. Now I know it's a bad head. I will be installing the new head today. My dealer wanted $1039 for a new...
  18. Dampers pricing question.

Yeah, the eBay ones are a great price and are the exact same damper. Man, somebody is getting rich.
  19. Roland SP-300 reviews and opinions?

I have one too. Had it for seven years now. It's been pretty much bullet proof. My next machine will only be a Roland again. I will never buy anything else.
  20. Paint flaking under wrap

the wrap will not stick to the primer. Its like getting a decal to stick to a piece of chalk. It will only be as good as the quality of the surface under it. We always recommend a professional paint job, just dont make it your problem.
