  1. Illumination question

Are there any ways to diffuse a bare LED module, without a cover? I want to put string LEDs on the rear of a 1/4" waterjetted aluminum design. The goal is to illuminate a painted gradient background lightly, and silhouette the crane design. Letters would be standard 10" halos. Planning on...
  2. What's the best way to apply a cutout logo, appliques 2'x2' without visible fasteners

I mean... if it can pull a train car, it can probably hold up yer 1/4" ACM (still my favorite VHB vid)
  3. No idea what I am doing....

Welcome from another fellow West Virginian (at one point) Lived in Berkeley Springs
  4. Corel Designer, Why is it not more popular, What am I missing

I've designed 35' tall pylon signs in Flexi, to scale. AI is the only one I know of with a workspace limitation. Why isn't Corel Designer a "standard"? It probably cant do all the things required to be one.
  5. Question Aluminum Stand Offs

And it shows. MBS is worth it for a better product, the milling on that standoff is garbage. Besides... pay more, make more. Customer doesn't usually know you can get a cheapy for a buck.
  6. What kind of employee (job title) am I looking for here?

Production Manager. Seems like they'll be doing a good chunk of the work and most of the responsibility, so make sure you pay them for their worth... otherwise you'll lose them.
  7. Building the Pyramids...

I seem to recall that they found a barge dock 2 miles away, and had floated the stones from the upper nile.
  8. Galaxy Note as a tool

Thats exactly why I got the Note, lol. Tired of carrying a camera, pen, legal pad, measuring tape, and a ladder. The 9 is also waterproof.
  9. Galaxy Note as a tool

Same here, Note 5 to Note 9. I needed the extra GB more than anything else - still works like a charm for my kid's nighttime music on wifi. The stylus on the 9 acts as a remote - so I can position the phone and take pictures from 30 feet away
  10. Galaxy Note as a tool

I've had a Note for the last 3 years, and it is simply the best tool I have for surveys. The Note lets me go paperless - I can dimension directly on any photo, or even draw a quick layout for a customer to see in the field. I email the pic over and I have dimensions on screen and ready to go...
  11. national permit runners for sign industry

Yea, here we have to dig, cover (to prevent rain from killing the hole) and wait for an inspector (usually a day or 2). Then, set poles and concrete, and have it inspected again. Then set the sign and have it inspected... again... for final. The one thing that always cracks me up about FL is...
  12. Installation Question

Both. Just screws will deform and may tear. That's a lot of air behind that rail.
  13. They just dont make good stuff anymore....

For you Audiophiles: Buddy of mine has a Neumann VMS-66 record lathe and still cuts masters and dubs on it for people.
  14. Hand Lettering....

I just googled Fish Pig, counting on the internet to deliver something. There's a ton up there.
  15. Hand Lettering....

Don't know about the font, but I think I'd avoid the food
  16. When someone asks..."Is that the best price you can give me?"

Almost none of what I do comes from the "car salesman" school of sales. I'm information based - I give them the options they need to make an informed decision. I don't push, I suggest, and back up my suggestion with my experience and knowledge about the trade. It builds trust to work down...
  17. Liquid Salt

what is "salt"? why are people eating on cars?
  18. When someone asks..."Is that the best price you can give me?"

On bigger projects where I think there's a potential of selling a big ticket item, I always tell them "I'm going to quote you a Cadillac - the best you can get. We can come down on the features from there to meet your budget if necessary".
  19. trailer rivet question

We remove ours. Takes about 10 minutes per side on a 12', which is a LOT faster than Rolleproing, no matter how fast you are... Anyone who thinks they can tunnel vinyl, heat, and roll faster than it takes to zip out a line of rivets is dreaming. Plus failure points everywhere.
  20. It's Crooked

A good salesperson would've sold the customer on the idea that that is how it is spelled.
