  1. Help choosing a second printer

i'd go with versatility and get a printer with white/silver or at the very least an expanded gamut beyond lmlc inks
  2. Discussion plotting paper patterns

i've noticed that long plots tend to drift out of square between long back&forths/tugging on the roll/crumpling/etc allowing slight shifts/slips of paper through the pinchrollers that add up to failure. ....but my remedy was simply to convert the paths to dashed-lines and simply run a sequence...
  3. 3D surface scanning and textural/dimensional relief inkjet printing

saw the swissQ in action last year at ISA. super cool but a helluvah footpr$nt really hope 2.5D keeps developing, cause textures really make things POP!
  4. Shoutout to ChatGPT. Cheapest customers always give the best reviews!

yeah, luckily we use vehicle wrap vinyl even for these "easy flat-panel" jobs. vinyl is still contoured to the brushlines now nearly a year later. i still remember my gfx guy complaining while he was postheating that it smelled like he washed his shirt in a sharpee marker.
  5. HP Latex not printing red

double check your magenta cartridge as well, sometimes it says 20mL remaining on the screen but when you pull out the cart it feels bone-dry.
  6. Shoutout to ChatGPT. Cheapest customers always give the best reviews!

i think google review only lets you post pics on an original review, unless i just didn't see the option to insert my own image in the response. leaving out the gfx&business name cause I don't wanna out some guy on the internet that's already going to jail for ~10yrs and still has two months...
  7. Shoutout to ChatGPT. Cheapest customers always give the best reviews!

+1 to solventinkjet's reply. its almost like speaking to a child that absorbs EVERYTHING. my process for this one was: "can you write a professional response to a bad google review for me, if I give you important context?" "here's the review" "here's the context" "can you write it again but...
  8. Question How Can I laminate a vinyl roll?

Having a laminator if you're a printshop is pretty standard, that $4k pays for itself pretty quick in manual labor alone. if you're not ready to take the plunge into new equipment, i'm certain any sign shop in your area would do it for you for minimal expense. I can laminate a 50yd roll in...
  9. Poblocki Sign Company Shut Down?

yeah, all locations in 3-4 states are shut down for good. Original owner is super nice, but he sold to an investment firm a few years back. I don't believe they have much assets to auction at the mke location aside from a boomtruck and real estate.
  10. Shoutout to ChatGPT. Cheapest customers always give the best reviews!

Thank goodness for ChatGPT, if anything to aid in professional responses google reviewers. Didn't notice this posted to our account until just recently, as they never called/emailed to complain, sooo I decided to take a drive past their truck to see if there was anything I could do to help and...
  11. Need Help Here!!!!!

vecteezy has some fun free stuff. as far as learning the equipment&software, why not lean on whomever sold it to you?
  12. Question Help Identify this 3M Material

no, i haven't tried it. id imagine its the same as ij40 but slightly better ...and still won't wrap contours with permanence.
  13. Zero Black (not clogged)

before ripping out your board and messing with it some more....try a line of diagnosis by swapping data lines at the printhead. if you swap the K data with any of the other MCY channels, and the error follows to the other color, then you find ways to diagnose up the chain of data transmission...
  14. What's your favorite drill bit for ACM?

zzz hss and a countersink to cleanup both sides of the hole.
  15. "My brother-in-law is a graphic designer in New York City" oh yay...

cnc routed aluminum or dibond panel, with bridges to connect centers of letters.
  16. HP Latex 365 color consistency

pics of your nozzle test to confirm software vs hardware issue but greys printing with blue'ish/reddish hues is typically a color profile issue.
  17. Question leaking between black head & captop

those have epson dx4 printheads right? definitely a broken/cracked manifold. easily happens with pressure while messing with the dampers, as the little plastic nipple that they seat-onto can snap easier than a toothpick. replaceable while also salvaging the existing printhead ...with a bit of...
  18. "My brother-in-law is a graphic designer in New York City" oh yay...

Nuuuh Yolk City?!? I hear they got some good salsa. that being said, I can't hate on said designer for pushing a little brand-recognition. ...now run with it and offer some graphics to slap on his car doors or a stencil to powerwash/chalkspray onto sidewalks.
  19. Clean edges on cnc routed dibond

Belin is still my favorite brand. 33317(.125")/33475(.188")/33635(.25"). huge fan of multiple passes for clean edges, or at least a singlular roughpass halfway through the material at a ~.03"+ offset so the metal chips have an easier path to flow-out when doing your final part cuts.
  20. Installing acrylic letters

if your customer is hellbent on not drilling into the block, maybe map out where the mortar lines are and place your studs there? you could, however, use adhesives to mount like VHBtape & silicone as statedd above...but then you're still ruining the block. 2-3 holes per letter actually does...
