  1. stripes and rollers

We get this problem on our vj1604's. It generally happens on softer materials like 3M180Cv3 or some banner materials. The only thing that works is reducing the heat on the preheater.
  2. Fixing a Cut Path to Look for Crop Marks

I use Wasatch Softrip 6.3 with my Graphtec FC7000-160 cutter and have noticed that sometimes, the cut file ignores the fact that there are cut marks and just starts cutting without trying to read them. Im not sure if this happens to anyone else, but this is my solution incase it does. Find the...
  3. Graphtec vs Summa cutters

I use both a Graphtec FC7000-160 and a SumaSign T1300. One difference is that the graphtec uses a drag knife and the suma uses a tangential knife. It means that my suma can cut a smaller font than my graphtec. Overall I'd say the FC7000-160 is a superior machine to the SumaSign T1300. There...
  4. FC7000 cutting coarsely

Did you ever fix the problem?
  5. Replacement Head Print Resolution

My boss recently replaced a DX5 Solvent Head on one of our VJ1604 printers. The new head seems to have a gold plate on it instead of a silver plate like the original. The print quality on the new head while good, is not as good as the original. It looks like someone added a faint noise filter...
  6. FC7000 cuts skewed

I am not familiar with the FC7000MK2-24 but on our FC7000-160 if I see this cutting defect it is always slippage from the rollers. For me, that is usually caused by having one of the tension tabs on the side rollers flipped up instead of down which causes the material to slip a bit on that...
  7. Graphtec not picking up registration marks?

On our Graphtec FC7000-160 I routinely cut things that have Type 1 registration marks with 0.5 inches of space to the edge of the material which is generally 54". I am sure I could do it with less than that. If you want to squeek out an extra inch, set your "expand" under area parameters to...
  8. How to Change the Number of Rollers Used on a Graphtec Cutting Pro FC7000-160

When I started using our FC7000 I noticed that we only ever used three pinch rollers but saw the fourth and thought to myself, "The more the merrier". The process for changing the number of pinch rollers the machine recognizes is complicated, and I typed it out as the technician explained it to...
  9. Is this possible in Flexi ?

You're only talking about 12 feet of vinyl right? Why not just cut them all and separate them with a ruler and a knife after your coffee?
  10. FC7000 cutting artworks randomly

Does your flexi have a checkbox for "optimize cutting order"?
  11. Mutoh streaks in green print. Help!

For the horizontal banding, it looks like it might be the way the material is wound around the core it came on. Try pre-feeding the material in a loop over the top of the roll with a lightweight core inside the loop to prevent a media slant. You might also consider that at some point the...
  12. FC7000 Cutting Issues

Sounds like the media might be slanting a little. 1. Make sure you are using all 4 pinch rollers. 2. Make sure the tab on the pinch rollers is down for rollers 1 and 4, and is up for rollers 2 and 3. 3. Make sure the teflon strip doesnt have a jagged groove down its length.
  13. VJ Ink not completely empty

The firmware is not the issue. It was fine at 2.0, then this started happening and it was still 2.0. We upgraded to the newest one today when my boss disassembled and reassembled the printer (not the whole thing) to check for problems. It prints fine. We just wont know if the problem is gone...
  14. $3.000 joke!

Flexi is great so long as you don't design with it. We use it for our cutters. We make everything in illustrator and export it for use in Flexi. For our print and cut, we use Wasatch SoftRIP. Like every piece of industry specific proprietary software ever, they've got their problems.
  15. VJ Ink not completely empty

I'm having a similar problem with one of our VJ1604's after having to do an ink charge. All ink cartridges that the printer says need replacing are still about half full. I'm not talking about just the ones there were there during the ink charge either. Ive got one Magenta cartridge that...
