  1. They say imitation...

I'm not bent out of shape over the fact that this was copied. I just wish who ever it was that copied it would have either taken the time or had the ability, to do a better job. This "copy" is poorly executed in my opinion. I could pick it apart several different ways. There are some local...
  2. They say imitation...

is the sincerest form of flattery. In this case I find it disheartening. I designed this scheme in 1998 for the Belvidere Police Dept. It seems to have stood the test of time. I have adapted it to several different models and body styles thru the years. I was recently looking at photos of police...
  3. New Logo for fairly new sign company

Thanks...I know...but it was a quickie! Thanks Pat
  4. New Logo for fairly new sign company

Another quickie...somewhat based on the "customers" sketch. I don't mind ovals.
  5. Show me your business logo

The bottom copy is hard to read with that "wave" effect
  6. Show me your business logo

This currently what is on signage/letterhead and such. The "mags" layout I just showed on the portfolio page may be what things get changed to.
  7. Shop truck magnetics

That is not a font, that is a hand drawn word.
  8. Opinions? new shop van wrap

Good clean layouts for a wrap, unlike most I see. I like the bottom one, although I would like to see the "wi" smaller and name bigger. I also wonder if you have tried that on the other side, unfortunately I don't think it will read/look as nice.
  9. Shop truck magnetics

That many layers is not the norm that we produce. Although we do have customers that are willing to pay for it sometimes. We do out source some printing, but we have no desire to own printing equipment ourselves. So if I want to do something that "looks" like the old painting days we suffer...
  10. Shop truck magnetics

On average I just do a two color convex letter, occasionally (on my stuff) I will add a third color or like these add the white at the peak of the bevel. Attached is from the cut file for these. Red installed first then black, meg gray, light gray and white. White border is the magnetic material.
  11. Shop truck magnetics

I wondered how long it would take for someone to ask that. Jeff's Lettering was officially started in 1987, but people often ask "how long have you been doing this" so a few years ago I changed the tag to since 1980. That is when I first started pushing a brush.
  12. Shop truck magnetics

Thanks. Cut vinyl, Magnum magnetic material, hand cut to shape with x-acto. These are some older shop truck magnetics. Stuck on the overhead door, same process.
  13. Shop truck magnetics

I go in streaks, sometimes having my truck "permanently" lettered, then wanting to have the versatility of not lettered sometimes. This is my most recent set of magnetics.
  14. computer/signlab9 help

Thanks again for the feedback. I’m just an old “sign painter” that was basically forced into the computer world. (That’s a whole different subject) As I said before, it seems hard to get a builder to understand what we need/want. We did not ask for the cheapest thing we could get. We...
  15. computer/signlab9 help

First, thank you for the input so far it is greatly appreciated. A little more background/info: Unfortunately we are not computer savvy enough to build our own computers and my experience seems to be your average builder doesn’t understand what we do with them; they seem to want to build...
  16. computer/signlab9 help

Hello, We are looking for some input regarding our computers/Signlab 9. We recently upgraded from SL5 to SL9 (we actually upgraded to 7 when it came out, but we hated it so we continued to work in 5) We had two computers built per Cadlink’s recommendations (specs of our computers below...
  17. Who's the Bigger Problem?

Hi all I think the answer is neither. There is always going to be cheap customers...and there is always going to be sign people that will cater to them. Very rarely will you educate a cheap customer. If you work at sign making long enough and do good work you will be busy enough that you...
