  1. SC/CJ 500 FJ 42/52 old time printers (inks?)

Just wanted to start a thread about what ink brand has worked or not worked for your old Roland DX2 printers. This may help out others who are looking to find ink that prints well in these printers. Also if profiles are needed or if regular Roland profiles work.
  2. Gloss Vs Matte Print media

I think Tim is right on the media that seem not to print well. Heat has to be set higher. And also as was said some reflectives may not print as well as others. I too used Oracal's Oralite 5700 and it prints nice and no extra heat but not sure you can get that over there.
  3. no colorchoice

You can get away with printing on some media without heat but from what I have found the ink does not soak in as much and then will scratch off easier. If laminated it may not be an issue but long ago they had special media for no heat printers. Now you need the heat for a lot of stuff or you...
  4. no colorchoice

You would need to get the disk mailed as I have tried to email the iso file but it won't work. Colorchoice is free and you can have a disk but if you don't get the right color that won't be fixed by getting colorchoice. Side by side flexi and colorchoice will print the same with the same...
  5. Roland Black Problem, Static?

I was kind of thinking debre dragging as well. Is it only black that you notice or is it because the black lays a bit thicker and it is just enough to make it catch the fuzz or hair being dragged. Check the cutter blade if its a print and cut as that seems to catch a lot of stuff. I remove the...
  6. Very good tool to have and the price is right

That would be Photoshop 5 and I think it's a tadd over $9. And by the way....... those people who think they know it all...... really bug those of us who actually do....... unedurcated huh..... (now where is that spell check button)
  7. fj52 solvent pigment or dye

I had left my CJ 500 with it set as pigment just because it was there already. Not sure if it would matter if you make your own profile as it would adjust the inks to get the right color. One thing that may make more of a difference is selcting just CMYK and not CMYKLcLm in the rip. It may...
  8. Printing a banner, media keeps trailing off to the left causing a crooked print.

I think that would be a issue when the rollers wear more on one side and start to get a < cone shape to them. (oops too slow typing) Do you use flanges on the rolls (they sit in the end of the rolls and keep the actual media off the support rails where you would normally set your media)...
  9. Very good tool to have and the price is right

I am running the AVG Free and wonder some times about false threats detected. I did run super antispyware and it found a threat but can't confirm if it was to do with the download. I did not even try to run the file as I check them before I open or run them and came up the the same AVG warning.
  10. Very good tool to have and the price is right

What you are really thinking is what would happen if you just painted the bikini out.......
  11. Very good tool to have and the price is right

Thank you, that makes me feel a little more at ease..... and yes at that price, how could you not use it... Just another quick question. Is it a stand alone program or is it a plugin?
  12. Very good tool to have and the price is right

Don't want to send out a false scare but AVG detected something in the file from the download. It may be a false read and have something to do with the software key but not sure. Also super anti spyware also detected something but not totaly sure it was related to that download. Anti spyware...
  13. What is causing this?

Had that exact look on my Roland and the roll was full of static and black showed up more. If you can lower the heads and it helps the issue then you know it was static or if it gets worse if you raise the heads.
  14. The order in which the printer cuts

Thanks guys, I am going to try both ways just so if I need to design in Illustrator I can remember for next time. And Wayne, thanks for the info on the advanced tab. I never use the main flexi program much and never for just cut files. In production Manager there is no advanced tab to click on...
  15. The order in which the printer cuts

Using Production Manager (set up the file in Illustrator) I want to do some cut lettering that will be approx 100" long. It's a web site address that they want to apply to some trucks for a promo. The letters are only 10" tall so on 54" wide media I can make 4 row (or copies) at a time. Now...
  16. Embossed Printing

Reminds me of a dog I seen the other day trying to emboss another one...
  17. Embossed Printing

On the Roland PDF they call it an "Embossing Effect". Compared to domed where the print image is inside flat and the dome is raised, the Embossing Effect is (I think) printed over the (clear) built up area. I looked at the back of the print to see if it had been embossed from behind, and it...
  18. Embossed Printing

I was at my Roland dealer and seen a print with the embossed print. It looked real nice but was afraid to ask the price of the printer. I think it uses a clear ink to build up the depth and then must print over that. The picture I seen was ice and drops of water running down a glass and the...
  19. Hanging Banner 'Stand'

Not sure why I was thinking that the 48" would be quite $$ but I went and looked some up and you are right....... that would be the way to go. I might be sitting too close to the ink........
  20. Hanging Banner 'Stand'

Might be the 48" wide that is the issue with a banner stand. Might be able to rig up an old roller blind like ChicagoGraphics said. Most are just the mech. in the ends of a carboard tube. If you can get the 48" wide it may be the cheapest fix and easiest to mount.
