I'm saying the plotter will cut reflective film. I wouldn't use it to try to compete with the companies that already specialize in traffic signs though (if that's what your objective is).

Nonsense .... I've cut plenty of reflective film on mine. I just up the down pressure and slow down the cutting speed. It does shorten the life of the blade though.

One Java script plug-in I use a lot is "Divide Text" ... it'll divide text that is on more than one line into individual lines. There's also a "Join Text" script that does the opposite but I don't use that as often.

I believe Cutting Master requires your plotter to be set in GPGL mode rather than HPGL.

Flexi is a great program for lots of things but weed lines isn't one of them. I do all my design work in Illustrator and send the cut jobs to SignCutPro which has excellent weed line features ... horizontal, vertical, inside borders, inside text and more.

I love the idea of having and using a CNC machine for dimensional signs rather than sandblasting but the cost of getting one and setting it up is far greater than than the equipment needed for sandblasting. So I'd say that unless you're expecting to do a lot of dimensional signage it would be...

I'm using the same settings as sign man signs has pictured right now but the force is usually a bit lower when I put a new blade in or higher if I'm cutting reflective or other thicker vinyls and of course the quality of the vinyl will make a difference.

Billboard is close but it looks like it's had one or more text effects applied to it, possibly in photoshop.

I laminate and prepare the panel, mask it with the resist then take it to a tool rental place's sandblasting booth. They supply the heavy duty compressor and blasting equipment, sand, fresh air positive vented mask and gloves and a single car garage sized room where the blasting is done. Saves...

Whenever I'm looking for a vector illustration I start with a google image search like so > Vector, (or eps,) then the item name/descriptor. Sometimes you can luck out and find a free one that's useable or a good selection of images for purchase.

You won't regret the extra bit of time mastering Illustrator. I used to have Flexi Letter and have to say that the vector and drawing tools in it were every bit as good as Illustrator. It was simpler than Illustrator to learn because, I think, it was designed for making signs and left off a lot...

In Safe Mode see if you can run Disk Utility to repair permissions (as has been suggested) ... that might help.

If you can use the font on your old PC then the font must still be there. When you have the file using the font on your old PC open you should be able to select it and Illustrator will show the font name then you can do a search to find and transfer it to the new computer.

Try looking in the font folder on the old system for the font. If you find it you could copy it to a flash drive and load it from there ontoyour new set-up.

Are the letter shapes grouped? I've noticed SignCutPro often doesn't respond well to things in groups. Try ungrouping everything if they're grouped.
