  1. Need Help with pricing?

Oh, come'on now... famous old adage goes, "A mind of an artist is rarely in the body of a businessman." I find that very true. I struggled with my worth for the majority of my life. Feelings of inadequacy, guilt for getting paid for my talents, brushing off compliments, doing things just for...
  2. 4' x 6' decal install over rivets....

There are several really detailed how-to's on RollePro's site. But yeah, you lay the graphic out how you would normally. Hinge method down the center. Obviously pick a nice flat spot to start. Smooth the graphic down with a felt squeegee all the way up to the first row of rivets. Just kinda...
  3. 4' x 6' decal install over rivets....

    Here ya go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te5vElxdSxM
  4. what do you think of this method to cut aluminum composite

You can't really do that to brand name Dibond®. It's got a tougher polyethylene core and thicker aluminum skin. I can do that with polymetal and some other off brand ACM we sometimes get, but real Dibond® is awesome! (Also twice the price) I've never gotten a good edge doing that method. But...
  5. Vinyl will not stick to Banner Material

Umm... yeah... the vinyl banners have plasticizers on them that exude oils that makes for a lower energy surface. Always wipe down corro, or banners with denatured or isopropyl alcohol before applying adhesive vinyl.
  6. Printhead source Seiko Colorpainter 64s

Where does one buy NMP or Butyl Carbitol?
  7. Banner Jet Walk-Thru + UV Ink Conversion!

I thought about the jules thing and the dwell time. But after doing some tests, and talking with the ink manufacturer, ink made specifically for curing with LEDs pretty much cure instantly. Those may be more of a factor in mercury vapor lamps. Plus, you will start to see LED cure UV ink start to...
  8. Banner Jet Walk-Thru + UV Ink Conversion!

OK, guys... here it is, the Banner Jet (T-Jet) install and all the subsequent information associated with it, along with my UV Ink Conversion. I figured, I'd better start logging this info in now before it becomes too overwhelming and too much information to even bother posting all at once. So...
  9. anyone know this font?

That's out of a clipart book from the 90s. I just google'd "Font with Cartoon Eyes" and there seems to be plenty of alternatives.
  10. Sofia Script Kerning Check

    Here's how I'd do it.
  11. Sofia Script Kerning Check

I agree with the "I" being weird. I'd find a better "I" As for kerning... I'm not too keen on the extra space between the "D" and the "U" - And the "S" and "T" could breath a little better. That would mean that you might need to add a swoosh on the "S" to visually connect, so it won't...
  12. Can I sell these legally?

Like the small time designer or sign shop can actually go after someone who's apparently stolen their "Designs" and had a competitor print them. Best you can do is p!ss and moan, maybe to the ex-client and maybe to the competitor to bad mouth him. You've really got an attorney on retainer to go...
  13. KeenCut - which model??

Had two different 102" models from KeenCut come slightly twisted. So keep an eye out for that. Never did end up keeping them. I would love a rotary trimmer that literally bolts to the side of the table and is flush with the table top and can swing down when not needed. That would be perfect.
  14. Can I sell these legally?

They are just mad because they don't have Nissan.com or .net (I bet if they offered to buy the guy's domain for $10 million, have him sign a non-compete etc, instead of suing him for it, things would have never got out of hand legally) Well, sure... Starbucks successfully sued "Buck's Coffee"...
  15. New Merchant Member Introducing myself.

Yes, Dibond attachment, and I'm totally gonna buy it! Also, do you have plans drawn up yet for those of us who'd prefer to make the base out of t-slots or 80/20 extrusions? I'd rather not use crummy hardware store wood. Thinking I'd make the backing panels out of Dibond for sure.
  16. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

Maybe that just means "Hofbrau-ish" without the Belgian flag.
  17. Anyone have experience with solvetinkjet.com?

Just get one from Francis. If you get a printhead DOA he'll swap it out for you. (He's a member here too) http://www.premiercolour.com
  18. Aluminum License plates?

I've been happy with these guys in the past. Really quick turnaround too. http://supersigns.biz/
  19. Can I sell these legally?

AUTOMOBILES AND STRUCTURAL PARTS THEREOF A decal does not follow under this term. Large corporations like this often times have licensing departments. Where they get a kickback, and you get to profit off their logo and likeness. Was mentioned above about college football teams... well, most...
  20. Can I sell these legally?

It's free advertising. I personally dislike advertising for other companies for free. They aren't paying me to wear that nike swoosh, so why am I participating in their little mass marketing game? Anyway, the legal issue really evolves around you (the seller) misrepresenting the company (in...
