  1. What would you do?

    Duly Noted.
  2. What would you do?

Well. I'm a bit of a sign nerd/aficionado with a profound appreciation for the art of sign making. I'm slightly OCD. Certain things jump out at me. Flawed signage happens to be one of them. And given the opportunity, I offer correction/fixes (if the other party is willing to accept). Example: I...
  3. What would you do?

Hi All! So... It is a well known fact that people come and go from this industry every day. I like to think of us all as rocks & debris. Some of us, like rocks, break free and become part of a strong base of the industry. Others, like dust and debris, come and land on stuff at the most...
  4. How to add cut lines in Photoshop for Versaworks?

You can find one way of getting it done here: older post
  5. Wrap Template Scale Stupidity

You wouldn't believe what some designers and agency pro's 'don't' know.
  6. Blowing up a pic

    Try www.ononesoftware.com/products/perfect-resize/ or http://www.alienskin.com/blowup/
  7. WHY WHY WHY Royal Soverign

RS sells a product call a "Push-Pull Scale". Not sure if anyone else makes or carries it. Its cheap. Its basically a Fishing scale with an L bracket and a piece of thin metal hooked on to it. It allows you to adjust the pressure across the rollers evenly. By evenly I mean a known pressure...
  8. Just stop already!!!

Well unlike some, FB is at least getting you some nibbles. Maybe you need a call to action to let FB users know what to do. Try posting a cool promo pic. Then promote it (FYI the "Promote this post" function makes the post stay on top of the feed for a set period of time.) "Call us at xxx-xxxx...
  9. Aggressive Adhesive needed

Thanks for the tips guys. So in the end, we went the primer route. After doing the math the cost of a roll of convex or arlon was more than the man-hour in this case. So we used one of our new guys to get a head start. First flame treating the faces (thanks jhilldesigns) and then hitting it...
  10. Aggressive Adhesive needed

MrSalumi, That thought crossed my mind also. But as I mentioned, the original graphics stuck no problem. This with out sanding. And I think my, or any client, would be a bit put off if I scuff the hell out of 100 or so of their units. When it wasn't needed before. Plus there is not enough money...
  11. Aggressive Adhesive needed

Morning All, I need to put some small graphics on a bunch of trash receptacles. I initially tried 3M IJ40 but it did not stick well. I then tried the 3M IJ380 That stuff does not stick well either. Plus its 3 times more expensive. I thought of trying some adhesive primer but that is another...
  12. Contour cut, psd to cdr?

I'm assuming you have a good handle on photoshop and I'm assuming your Knomad Chalk Art images are on a solid or transparent background. In photoshop , take your magic wand tool and select the transparent area. Then select the inverse. Your graphics should be selected. then go to your paths...
  13. Bioshock Infinite - Eye candy for sign makers.

Didn't realize there were any other game fans here. Cool! Yea, this and Crysis 3 are on my list. Also eye balling a GeForce GTX TITAN so both will look ever so pretty and fast. But just can't justify the expense right now.
  14. Outer Glow Issue with Versaworks

jhd, this is a common problem with versaworks. What works for me is, in illustrator, select all. then choose OBJECT > FLATTEN TRANSPARENCY. A dialog box will pop up. the default settings are usually good to go. Click OK. Then re-export the eps. Should work fine then.
  15. Flexisign Working with paths

HotRod, Try scaling the object up a bit. Sometimes, if you are working on something very small, Flexi has a hard time redrawing your path edits. Try scaling the object up, maybe 4 or four time the original size, then make your edits. Record the original size of course so you can scale back when...
  16. PDF proof wtf

Not as silly as it sounds. Many designers don't understand the concept of prepping files for output (Converting fonts and strokes to outlines, Embedding placed art, Color space etc.) Sometimes PDFs contains embedded fonts that will shift to a system default with out a warning pop up or anything...
  17. roland library

Not media settings. Queue A or B properties.
  18. Dorks. Look here.

    Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
  19. roland library

You have two issues here: 1) Yes, you actually do need to check the convert to spot color or is not truly the RVW color color. Just set it in the queue before adding a file. Double click on the "A" or "B" folder icon (to the top left of the Versaworks interface. Next to the little computer and...
  20. LCD Wall Monitor Display

+1 for this company. I do some work for this massive company near me that builds the display systems. And Digital Signage is a secondary business for them. They run their entire operation with the enterprise ($99) option. I have tried it it it will do just about every thing you could want with...
