  3. How to make this contemporary?

Distressed font + outline looks horrible. IF you want to use that font, outline in black to fill any spots within the letters, weld, and then outline. Order up is a 70s/80s style font, imo Mobile Food Cart is a 40's/50's style script. Off-Center outlined like that feels like handlettered. I...

  5. How to Determine Pole Depth of Pre-Existing Pylon Sign

OP might check in city archives, which is time consuming and a pain in the a$$. The city will ALWAYS claim that "they can't find it", but it should exist somewhere. That somewhere is usually a box buried under decades of more boxes. Calculate that into your permitting time. PS - Get a shovel
  6. How to Determine Pole Depth of Pre-Existing Pylon Sign

I know this is off topic a bit... But what tool do you use to get the "actual square footage" of the Army's hat? Been looking for something like that for years.

  8. Movable Wooden Wheeled Sign

It's for a school - they are only going to be there for a year, and don't want to permit anything. They're also zoned residential and can't have permanent signage. They have had a plastic roll-out sign of a type ive never seen before - it has two inverted and stylized "T" shapes, with a 1/8"...
  9. Movable Wooden Wheeled Sign

Customer is looking for a movable wooden sign. It should accommodate a 36" tall x 48" wide panel, OR 2x 36" tall x 48" wide panels in a V-configuration. Any ideas for structure? This is a rough drawing I did for what I think will work, but seeing if someone has a prettier option.

  11. How do you dress at work? Uniforms?

In ~10 years on the job I've had a total of 3 jobs that required PPE, 2 at military bases and one 15 story apartments ADA job. Not often sign companies are on an active job site with overhead hazards, since we're last in line on installation schedule. But then again, you paint heavy equipment.

  14. How do you dress at work? Uniforms?

It's Florida. No need to wear a shirt and tie - EVERYONE will understand. I wear either jeans or shorts, with a clima-cool or like polo. The lightweight golf shirts are always cooler than even a cotton tee. The adidas one I have on now has about 30 aluminum 1/8" "buttons" on the upper back...

  18. Screenprinted logo

"Fortune" is relative, this is part of a giant job involving masonry, aluminum structural cabinets, waterjetting, powdercoating, tree removal, fencing and electrical runs. Couple hundred bucks ain't gonna make or break it ;) Screenprinting is specced, so we'll quote it, and then provide an...
  19. Screenprinted logo

Have a bid project for a local city. Part of the project is a "silkscreen City Seal" attached to a 1/4" aluminum plate. The drawings spec a beveled edge on that plate. I'm not a screenprinter - but I don't think you can screen onto a bevel. I think the best way would be to powdercoat the...
