  1. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

Client hired us specifically for retro, so we know going in that's the direction, and our Creative Brief document also helps in terms of specific genre within retro that they want. We go over the briefing document at length before sketching to make sure what they say in the brief makes sense, or...
  2. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

I didn't mean to imply I was trying to replicate an exact ribbon script. I was definitely inspired by them, no doubt, but the true ribbon script style suffers from legibility issues which I think would make it tough to read in an outdoor realm. So I did my own interpretation of it, with a modern...
  3. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

INteresting question. In all the lettering examples, the ribbon effect wasn't slanted towards anything specific to do with sewing/craft/etc - so I hadn't really even thought there was a connection to it. However, women do represent a large part of the usual demographics for HVAC guys on initial...
  4. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

Thanks guys. I had such a good layout for their vans, but then client said they decided on new Ford Transits, which dont make nearly as good a canvas as regular chevy 2500's etc--- so back to the drawing board on that! Theres a few really good old lettering resources on Amazon that have a ton...
  5. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

I have been studying a lot of 1930-1950s typography books and one style fascinated me - the ribbon scripts used. Finally had an opportunity to pull one off here. Jeff, my illustrator took the idea and ran with it. We're doing the wrap design next which should be cool. But this one is...
  6. Pub Logo

Very tight brother. I'm not a huge fan of that LH font for the script as the lowercase R connector actually always bothered me. But probably some mild typography OCD on my part. Nice work as always pal.
  7. Best Wrap Training/Seminars - Thoughts?

There's more to graphic design than proficiency in software, or an artistic eye. That's the easy part. The real role experience plays is in the depth of understanding about proper branding, brand integration, and effective marketing strategy from a cohesive standpoint. Truly understanding small...

Congrats Joe. Truly an awesome designer - and not only that, a class act too.
  9. Box Truck "wrap"

  10. Box Truck "wrap"

OK - I give up - what exactly do they do? Nice install!

  13. Best Wrap Certification

Totally true. Experience trumps any certification. I look at certification as maybe a way to further educate yourself, but no two day class is going to replicate thousands of hours you guys have. I seriously have nothing but mad respect for you guys. Even when I did truck and vans, I just...
  14. Best Wrap Certification

You not only have the cleanest installs, but also great designs as well. A rare combination, and one of the reason I think you are so successful and at the top of your game.:U Rock: You are right - probably not the best assumption to make - however - if I have nothing else to go by, it's...
  15. how to handle a stolen design

Everyone is free to use it, modify, etc. Just change to your local municipal court, and obviously your company name, hourly rates, kill fee, etc. Hope it helps in the future.
  16. how to handle a stolen design

    1. Get deposit upfront. We take 2/3rd deposit up front. 2. With your deposit, have signed proposal. 3. In proposal, put terms like this (below, from mine). Subsitute 'logo design' for 'design' if needed. 4. Watermark your files, and put your copyright information on them. - Modifications...
  17. Best Wrap Training/Seminars - Thoughts?

It's interesting that it only takes two days to get 'certified' to wrap vehicles. It's taken me 20 years to get 'certified' to design em. Although to be honest, the more guys buying a printer and getting 'certified' in two days and then designing their own stuff and putting it on the road...
  18. Organic Lawn Care

Philip as was suggested maybe a mascot might help in brand awareness. This is one we did about 6 years ago for an organic lawn care company that competes against the franchises. http://www.landscapermarketing.com/case-study/natural-turf/
  19. Have At It...

As others stated, work on prioritizing your copy. The revision also lacks priority, and also, has too much copy. Stuff like 'insured' is superfluous. I'd go either web or phone, not both. The problem with clients who want this much copy is they don't seem to understand it's better to have one...
