  1. Color between programs

Under Tools, Color Mgmt, click the center CMYK icon there. In there are two dropdowns, the default of the top one is set to Automatic, the bottom one (for me) is either Kodak or Microsoft ICM. The top one is where you can choose the Rendering Intent. Personally, I've left mine at Automatic.
  2. Starting out!

I've got a lot of time on various CAD platforms and NONE of them would be useful for typical signmaking. If you are working with Architectural-type signage or similar, then you would likely want a low-end solid-modeling package like SolidWorks or Alibre. Sounds like you are not doing that at...
  3. Starting out!

Red on black is a common error among inexperienced designers. Most with very much exp. will all agree that this is a poor combo that has far too little contrast and bleeds together visually...use the ol' squint test on it. If you must use red and black, try separating with a contrasting color...
  4. Thoughts on...Colorspan 72 UVR

Considering this one as posted by Merritt Graphics. However, I've no experience with these, but I like some of the things can be done with it...direct printing to rigid substrates AND rolled goods. However, are there other considerations about these that may not be readily apparent? I've heard...
  5. Service Code 0110

I am not 100% sure, but I believe it is in reference to the encoder strip. I've had this error just once, cleaned the strip and haven't had it since.
  6. HP Vs Kodak(Encad)

The one I'm looking at has the built-in RIP...is this good or should I be using Wasatch? If Wasatch, I'd have to spend about $2000 to upgrade my Roland-only version to the full-version. BTW, are there any specific downfalls of this printer?
  7. HP Vs Kodak(Encad)

Kinda resurrecting an old thread. I'm considering an HP 5500UV PS 60" printer, with the intention of COMPLEMENTING my Roland SP-540V. I'm not sure if it will, but am asking the question here. Primarily looking to use it for the higher-end indoor printing market as I've got the outdoor market...
  8. bling effect

Whaddya think the teacher's gonna look like this year... ...CLASS DISMISSED!!!
  9. Laminator Questions

Look into the GBC Arctic Titan too, as this is a non-heated laminator...I think iSign has this one. I have the ultra-low buck DingTec and it does work, but I'd like to have a few more features, such as take up reels.
  10. Resizing Vector Images In corel X3

Make your page size the desired output size, then size elements as required based on that page size.
  11. Vinyl rubberizing machine????

Sounds like some sort of doming (applying a flexible epoxy to the decals). I don't think it's quite that automated though...maybe.
  12. Banner Hemming

I use 1" banner hem tape, but I only grommet every 4-5 feet unless instructed otherwise (plus corners of course). Why are some of you going every 2'...seems like overkill to me. I've never had any issues with this strategy.
  13. Have your ever checked your inks?

No issues like that with a bulk ink system!!!!
  14. Just starting up

No Kidding?! I do see your point though. Who was the dealer...PCSS out of Portland or another? Damn, I'd sure like to find a deal like that as I still owe a little more than that on my SP-540!!!
  15. calculating the actual area

It's probably a VB script file, in which case you need to simply make a toolbar for it. Do this thru Tools, Customization...have you ever created your own toolbar in Corel? Really easy, pretty much drag and drop type of stuff.

  17. calculating the actual area

Rick, do you know if the Isocalc one will work on multiple images at the same time or just on one closed shape? If only one, it would certainly be a tedious task to select each letter in a paragraph to come up with an exact area calculation.
  18. calculating the actual area

Not really any easy way since you are likely talking about a lot of random shapes that are not easily defined mathmatically. You'd likely need to use some form of integral calculus to get there from here. But why, pray tell, do you need to know the exact area of CUT vinyl? Are you trying to...
  19. Servers for Dummies

What is the system? Only a search field comes up on the site.
  20. Excellent for Working with Microsoft Products

On a sorta side note, anyone know if Linux will run CorelDraw X3? I know that there are so-called equivalent softwares, but will Linux open native Windoze softwares? I started looking into Linux, but have no real knowledge on the subject. I read that Corel v9 would run on Linux, but don't...
