I hate to admit it, but I can see this guy's point based on the very specific situation he has. However, PaintPro...if these are all essentially the same....maybe just different numbers only to be used for a weekend, why not simply have a pile of 'em made by someone (here or local to you)...

I make my own profiles now and have made a 450x360x4-pass profile that can be used for some banners...most that don't require up-close viewing. With that, I get about 160 SFPH, but even at my 'normal' print speed, I get 64 SFPH which is 720x720x8-pass and that I use for 95% of what we produce.

If it were an option when I got my SP540, I would choose the VP...2-yr warranty, increased speed, some better overall features.

That's purely subjective and based on the application. Honestly, I think you should be able to determine that for yourself if you are in the industry of printing images for pay.

Although printing at more passes will likely improve the situation, you shouldn't have to. I ROUTINELY print at 8-pass mode, in fact I RARELY print at anything but. If you machine is even close to being 'in-tune' then it should easily produce quality output at 8-pass mode. 32-pass mode must...

Orajet 3165 is 3.75 mil vs. 2.5 mil for Orajet 3651. We use 3165 for 75-90% of our applications. It is better if you laminate, but the added thickness of the 3165 is helpful too, and is better for full-bleed, contour-cut decals as it won't edge-curl nearly as bad.

You technically cannot make a profile for window perf w/o a special spectrophotometer...or at least one with a spherical head attachment. I've been using one I've made for Orajet 3165 or 3551 with fine results.

While it may be in working condition at present, if that owner has had it very long, he's just trying to flush a turd.
