  1. Rant Customer wants to see $1M proof of insurance for $48 banner

did you not read that I wasn't replying to the OP but rather the contintued discussion on "how much damage could a banner do?" its already been covered that liability would be on the property owner > installer, but you could still get dragged into a lawsuit just because injury lawyers sue with...
  2. Small Parts shifting

3M 77 spray adhesive, comes in a can and is available at most hardware stores. holds great to a disposable table surface when paired with vacuum, minimal effort to clean-up from finished part via rapid remover or denatured alcohol. otherwise, why not just setup a tablesaw if you're just lopping...
  3. Rememberance 12/7/1941

Pearl Harbor is what sent my grandfather and his Marine buddies to Iwo Jima. Came back with a Purple Heart and made a buncha babies and a sign company. Amazing to think how I most likely wouldn't exist, if not for Pearl Harbor.
  4. Rant Customer wants to see $1M proof of insurance for $48 banner

how much damage can a goose do? ...they said, before it brought down a 747. a banner in the wind, can do a LOT of damage. especially when there's pedestrians/traffic nearby. chaos theory dictates that if anything is possible, it will happen eventually....and you'll be liable.
  5. Sign Permit Questions

a permit is separate from liability. your name may be on the permit, but the installer & property owner carry the liability. ....buuuut having your name attached to things when they go south, still burdens you to prove you had nothing to do with it when it comes to lawsuits. as mentioned...
  6. Refilling flushing liquid cartridges

i'd post links to previous threads, but from the picture it appears you're using Aqueous Inks and my homebrew research/recipe is for solvent. I was only here to chime-in that those cartridges are indeed refillable, abeit tedious. if you do have a chemist in your area (google chemical supply...
  7. Printing Shiny (Glossy) on Matte paper

citing textured/fiberous media as an example why the ink doesn't present a glossy sheen on various media, is a horse of a different color....and they still require lamination to protect the ink from being scratched off or clients wiping it off with a bit of solvent cleaner. plenty of times in...
  8. Refilling flushing liquid cartridges

your local chemist. anyone that supplies products for pool & commercial/industrial cleaners would have what you need in stock. you can also order them individually online from amazon/homedepot/etc. in smaller quantities. for my JV3 solvent inkjet, i was purchasing Acetone & Butyl Cellusolve...
  9. Printing Shiny (Glossy) on Matte paper

its my understanding that ALL inks print "glossy".... its the nature of a liquid's surface tension being laid onto a surface. lamination is what determines your finish, unless your printer has the ability to print clear atop your color.
  10. Refilling flushing liquid cartridges

used to fill these all the time with my homebrew cleaner. bigger syringe is all that really helps. you don't want to go too big of a needle, or chance ruining the seal. trying to setup some contraption for an IV drip direct to machine is silly, just stick with what works and pour yourself a...
  11. Taking the next step in printers...

top two directions on my wishlist, after recent pre-covid ISA show, were the HP R1000/2000 and AFGA's Jet Mira for their own reasons. Loved the HP and its white ink capability, and the design that allows the white printhead to be disconnected, and placed in a rotating drum , while the white ink...
  12. WTF (What the Frosting)

yup. definitely a layer of dusted/frosted/etched/etc on both sides of the glass. easy enough to quote for the 2x and figure out the details/design prior to production
  13. WTF (What the Frosting)

    pics, or it never happened.
  14. color washed on mutoh same print file? have to reprint entire truck... help!

pics, or it didn't happen. test print may yield that your Cyan has some issues. even though you might not see any banding, if you're running with any% deflected nozzles then your colors will be slightly off.
  15. Printing and cutting on imitation large engine turned gold

it can tell the difference, but metallics and reflectives have an issue scanning because the light gets scattered/garbled between the laser/surface/photoeye and throws random fits.... i just throw a piece of white masking tape on the marks and redraw the line with a pen and it scans just fine...
  16. Need Help Looking for used MIMAKI Cutter 53"

mimaki cg130fx's are $7k new. Used ones going for at least $2500, even one posted here in july...shipping not included. anything less, you've got a steal.
  17. Is there another option similar to Lords 406 Adhesive?

Ellsworth Adhesives has multiple locations in CA, and distributes Lord's. Even if you want to branch-away from Lord's, their tech guys are pretty nerdy when it comes to adhesives and can proly walk you through options they carry.
  18. Is there another option similar to Lords 406 Adhesive?

plenty of adhesive suppliers deal with Lord's, does your supplier have an alternative that made them stop carrying it? imho, Lord's kicks ass. we've dabbled in other brands, like but my guys have always liked the 403/406 better.
  19. Old but New

quick google search yields result for dTech Group, which services mimaki printers in your area. considering covid madness, i'm sure you can arrange for a service which allows a tech to walk you through the install & alignment remotely via video chat, to expedite your printhead replacement (which...
  20. Discussion What is different?

drones? sooo 2019 next step for Amazon is to provide a headset that the user wears which places them in a dreamlike state, while a remote operator (or A.I.) controls their body and completes the service with journeymen expertise. "some assembly required" suddenly becomes a day at the beach!
