  1. Replacement Ink for Roland SP-540 VersaCamm

I disagree that OEM is the only way to go, but YMMV. http://www.signs101.com/forums/showpost.php?p=664701&postcount=3
  2. Mounting Cutting Mats to Table

When I built my last table (5'x10') I used banner tape and also screwed it down using sheetrock screws. However, the mats expand/contract a LOT and so we had to get rid of the screws and the tape eventually gave way, so essentially nothing at this point.
  3. anyone know roughly what ink costs per sq. ft.?

The ROT I used was Cost per Liter / 1000. That was for my 4-color Roland. YMMV for a 6 or 8 color machine. I forget exactly how I came up with it or if someone else gave me the notion.
  4. SP540v image warping - fuzzy printing

Good to hear that's what it was. The encoder strip is what I would have recommended as well. We had about 4 yrs on my printer before we did have to replace it. YMMV.
  5. Another hand lettered "Weathered" piece

S'Rex...just not sure how you can live with such mediocrity. Kidding of course, seriously though...you make me wanna puke at my feeble attempts. Thanks for sharing amigo!

What do you need/want the software to do? There are many solutions out there, each with varying feature-sets.
  7. What do you remember...................

Merthiolate. I couldn't find any decent pix of the stuff my grandma always tortured me with, er I mean lovingly applied to my wounds as a kid. I remember that it was in a squarish glass bottle and it was merthiolate or mercurachrome I believe, heck maybe both of them. I remember it being...
  8. Roland SP-540V

In order to acheive a RICH BLACK (which it sounds like you are ultimately after), you must incorporate all ink colors. A good rich black in CMYK would be: C25 M25 Y25 K100. However, if you really want to use black ink only, then you typically have to map incoming blacks to use just K100...

  16. What do you charge for design work?

Damn dude, you're giving away your work. Design work for non-logo apps was at our std. shop rate, which was $72/hr. Logos were generally flat fee and we had 3-tiers: $325, $475 and $650.
  17. Pricing????

    (Matl's * Markup + Time @ Shop Rate) + Perceived Value + PITA factor = Selling Price
  18. Select by Color

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I don't even recall what version I was referrring to at the time, but based on the date of the post, maybe v9 or v11? Actually X3 has this feature now. I'm not even sure of WHY I was looking for this at the time, but maybe to change to another color. If so...
  19. Custom Shop Software

In 2003, I started with an Excel spreadsheet I made up, then moved onto MS Access in about 2005. I now sell both of them to the sign industry under the name GraphixCALC. They're both based on lots of input from others as well as my own experience and opinions of how to go about it. Looks like...
