Another hand lettered "Weathered" piece

This is another "Antiqued" or "weathered" looking piece to add to the ranch decor. Hand lettered on rough cedar with Ronan's Japan Colors. I wanted it to look somewhat old and lettered in a rough manner. The fonts used are a variation of LHF Fancy Full Spurs Bold, Grant Antique and A&S Tuscano Script (not yet released).

No wet on wet. Japan Colors dry very fast, much like poster colors. Lettering time was about 4 hrs. Pretty much a slam. All total from first saw cut to finished frame was about 8 hrs. I didn't have any cedar wide enough for a one piece plank so I used two pieces put together.

All Quill work. The sign is only 10-3/4" x 60"
The order of color application was...
* Green base on Elaine's
* Red/Brown base on Cafe/Hotel
* Yellow base on ribbon
* shadows on all
* outlines on Elaine's, then on Cafe/Hotel
* Ribbon copy/text
* lighter inside green on Elaine's
* Highlights & Accents on Cafe/Hotel
* outline on ribbon

Yes. After an off-white base primer, then again after a tinted base finish coat and then lightly after the lettering is dry and then followed up with a Scotchbright pad.
This was a brushed on background.
Depending on the wood grain and how much weather exposure the piece of wood I choose has, I'll sometimes brush coat and then buff the paint into the wood two or three coats and finish off with just Scotchbrite after lettering for a different look. Like this one...

Really like the script and the old look on cedar image also the whole image looks great along with your outstanding talents, your color mixing was right on for the shade and bevels in red
