  1. What am I doing wrong with Coreldraw X5? Please help!

Export as an EPS file, that is the encapusated post script version (thus eps) and will be fully compatible with flexi. Also, convert all outlines to curves and all editable shapes to outlines BEFORE exporting.
  2. Plotter Blade Holders

I found the blade holders from those master plotters to be rather decent. I picked up about 8 of them over the years from people who have dead machines. Also have about 5 of those holders that you can stick that middle of an econo ink pen in. good stuff. rounded tip, billet aluminum, and...

    And Joker ..
  4. Can't believe I can't find this font.

Yeah, looks like they customized it in an odd way. Bad design can easily be achieved in lack of attention to detail in the right spots.
  5. Can't believe I can't find this font.

    bank gothic to a slant.
  6. casual font

I got nothing, closest I found was one called "lindas-hand" in an old Master media cd and even that isn't cutting it.
  7. casual font

The E looks familiar, let me check my older font libraries.
  8. I am needing a font chart.

It is fun sometimes. Most of the people who sit in my office while I design are there for signs "while you wait" and really are looking just for lettering so you can easily pull out a bag of tricks to "wow" them. Most come in looking for just blocked out lettering and leave with a start of...
  9. HP Designjet 5500 printing issues?

10 foot long panels at 300 dpi raster in a gang run of 5-10 panels. Also should note, system only had a gig of ram and was sending through usb 1.0 cable at the time. we upped a month later to an ethernet setup w/ a 6 gig system dedicated to printing which fixed that problem long run. short...
  10. HP Designjet 5500 printing issues?

+1 to what mike said, also check encoder and lastly try printing from different sources, Had this one time when we were sending massive art and the image wasn't buffering correctly from computer to printer.
  11. I am needing a font chart.

Just make one. I made 5 pages worth double columned and it's cut my time down considerably. As for letting the customers choose, I let them choose 3 then I design in front of them with the 3 typefaces a layout each that works for that style of lettering. Takes me about 10 minutes to get all 3...

doesn't seem to be a bad cable anywhere ... could it be a driver issue?
  13. Found a list of software that was interesting.

http://www.snap2objects.com/2007/07/20/45-best-freeware-design-programs/ Basically lists out a ton of freeware software for designing. I personally have a laptop that has the basics (gimp, inkscape, blender, bryce & sketchup) but there are a few like spray vector that I didn't know about...

good call, forgot sandpaper ... you can also drag a sharp knife along the edge too for refining.
  15. Still searching for the a printer near me

he already bought it. I never recommend liquid laminate. If anything, hand laminate ... big squeegees are good for that I hear ... i just use some of my older silk screen squeegees that are too brittle for pulling ink and I wrap them with a little bit of felt to reduce drag. works like a charm.
  16. getting the best edge on acrylic letters

Silicon carbide or diamond tip router bit that has a fine tooth to it will give a near smooth edge ... just run through slowly to avoid chipping. Then flame polish for glass like surface.

  18. A few shirt layouts.

Nice design, not really much I would ever change on those. Text is clean, design is coherent and it will definantly catch eyes.
  19. Customer Humor

The most I have to deal with something Like this is on vehicle graphics when the customer wants a drop shadow. I always ask if they want the drop shadow to be the opposite directions on the sides of the (rig, van, truck, unicycle, flying midget, etc) invariably they say no, until I show them...
  20. Customer Humor

Customer paid to update their graphics for their logo, after 12 revisions they paid for ... we ended up only changing the color. One customer wanted van graphics, said he just re-painted and that the paint was oven cured. when applying I noticed orange peel, told the customer and that that...
