  1. CS2_Images moving when file reopened

I've been having this problem lately when opening files I've created in CS2. When reopened, any placed images, usually .jpg or .psd files, move out of their original placement as shown in the attached pics. The first attachment is a recreation of a local Police Dept. uniform patch. The second...

  3. gothic swashes?

It sure does look like Feathergraphy. It can be downloaded here for free here: http://fonts.webtoolhub.com/font-n25603-feathergraphy-decoration.aspx Before anybody thinks it, I'm no font genius. I just checked out what Tiki said and searched for it.
  4. Employee Woes

There was an article in SignCraft magazine many years ago wherein the author said he is always hearing, "It's hard to find good employees", but he said he thinks it's the opposite. It's hard to find good owners. For his example to his reasoning he said that 90% of his employee's mistakes could...
  5. Have never seen this happen.................

We've changed all our lamps to full spectrum. It helps somewhat but outside is the real thing and grays still look different but as bad.

I use the same plotter with Illustrator and Fine Cut. I once posted the following for someone using Corel draw. I think a lot of it pertains to you too. Maybe you'll find something you're missing or a step you're leaving out. 1.Set up your cutter acording the manual (pages 3.17 - 3.43) I am...

Agreed. A baseline would be easier.

Why not measure the vertical center of each letter and line up the centers?
  11. How to make Illustrator show actual size of live text without converting to outlines

Oh, now I see what he was getting at. Character height. I was shooting for overall measurement. It helps me nest my output to my media size. For character height: We do a lot of cut-vinyl work for a local factory with copy like "12 TON CAP." and the like. They'll specify 2", 3" 4", etc...
  12. How to make Illustrator show actual size of live text without converting to outlines

If you set up two identical lines of text and do this to one of them and convert the other one to outlines the measurements in the transform palette with be exactly the same. That is what I am typically looking for. Plus this method leaves the type live. I have done the same as you in drawing...

    Looks great! Love that logo.
  14. How to make Illustrator show actual size of live text without converting to outlines

When working with text I need to know the exact letter height, not the em height and without the leading as is included in the illustrator bounding box around type. I need it exactly the way it would measure if converting the text to outlines. Converting text to outlines gives me that...
  15. HP 8000 banding issues printing ARLON DPF 8000

After reading your post yesterday I decided to look into that today. I think I remember a feature that allows specific rollers, any of them, to be lifted and not make contact. I'll post the results of my findings. It may help someone else with an HP.

  17. HP 8000 banding issues printing ARLON DPF 8000

Is there anything you've found that guards against this. I've got several upcoming jobs that will be using this material. Maybe bearing grease on all the adhesive contact points. :Big Laugh
  18. HP 8000 banding issues printing ARLON DPF 8000

I spent nearly an hour cleaning adhesive off my printer after printing 10ft of this material. I've got pictures of that "glue" all over my machine. I have come to the conclusion that the adhesive is what caused my head strike.
  19. HP 8000 banding issues printing ARLON DPF 8000

I like your "quick/dirty" fix comment as it is that. Next time I use this material I'm going to cut a sheet of it to size and load that. It will eliminate the feed problem due to the weight of the roll. I think you're right about that causing the issue. The 180 PF works fine for my type of...

I still want to see what it does with the other registration mark, the one that is like the corners of a box. Print one like that and try it. C'mon, hurry up, I don't have all day. hahaha
