We started out finishing our banners with DS tape. It's okay for a short term product but I've found that clients really prefer sewn hems or welded hems if you can afford the equipment. We purchased a double needle Kansai machine from Ralph's Sewing in Denver for around $3200. It was a little...
I like the option idea. "Made in the USA" banners for $6.50/sqft or "economy" banners for $5.50/sqft. I agree, there would be some takers out there. We have purchsed direct from Ultra Flexx in the past and I like their material. The freight just kills the good deal on their clearance items...
Agreed. Banners are just one of those things that needs to go out the door inexpensively and in a hurry (sometimes in a BIG hurry). We try to support the whole “Made in the USA” thing when possible but I just can’t seem to justify paying 3x the price for USA banner material. Our clients won’t...
I’m having a dilemma… I’m proud to be an American and want to support all things made in the USA but when it comes to banner material in particular, I’m having a hard time justifying the much higher price to buy a product like Bantex. Their products are amazing, the quality is always good but...
We ended up tweaking one of the Wasatch banner profiles to print on the 18oz. We increased the overprint to 2x, this fixed the saturation problem. The client wanted a "neon" green wich up until we purchased the Epson would not have been possible. Still having problems with the cheap banner...
Yea, we printed a banner on 18oz Bantex yesterday. We finally got the saturation right and it looked great. There was a "neon" green the client was trying to hit and would not have been possible on the Mimaki. The 18oz stayed flat, it's the darn 13oz that tunnels.
Hmmm.... the things we learn AFTER purchasing a printer. Our JV33 has always been our "go to" for durable banners so I guess we will just keep it that way. I will still do some trouble shooting on the Epson to see if we can figure something out. If we do, I will be sure to post the results so...
We have been up and running for a few days now with the new GS6000. The machine prints great on vinyl but we are still working through some issues printing banner material. The ink saturation isn't quite what it needs to be and the material continues to buckle. We are trying to turn down the...
Haven't found one yet. We have tried 2 different (non home depot options). Both versions were way too dim and the clients were unhappy. Ended up going with 110 power instead. If you find a good solution, I'm interested.
Forgot to mention... we have been using the Mimaki Fine Cut plug-in for Adobe Illustrator and love it. If you are comfortable with Illustrator, you will do just fine with the plug-in.
Your pressure will range from 35-100 for most materials fyi.
Sounds like you have your blade holder in the front position (for pounce cutting decals). Move it back to the rear position so it cuts on the cutting pad, not the pounce pad. With the offset you described, I'm sure this is the problem. Good luck.
Good info. I agree... the JV33 is a work horse adn we love ours. We looked at the HP latex in Vegas. The price was good but there were too many variables this early in the game. I think a latex flatbed would be cool if they can figure ou the temperature vs. substrate battle.
We unloaded...
Thanks for all of the good feedback. I should be able to get my hands on the Seiko this week for a demo. I'm leaning toward the Epson but the Seiko is less $$ and advertised as faster. Worth a look.
