  1. Most aggressive adhesive vinyl?

Don't use IJ35. It images great but the adhesion is fair at best.
  2. first few feet of print have dust on them...

We keep the original bags/sleeves from our vinyl and cover the rolls to help with dust. Might help? We have also got into the habit of wiping off the rolls after we load them on the printer BEFORE feeding the material up to the pinch rollers. If it's only the first 1-2' of new rolls, the...
  3. For those who think it isn't possible.

Looks great! I will keep an eye out next time it rolls down south. The Light Rail used to run right behind our old shop. I don't envy your hands and forearms after that much vinyl in a day. Nice work!
  4. Business Cards with Raised Lettering

We use BCT (Business Cards Tomorrow) out of Denver. They do a great job with thermography as well as full color work. They are wholesale to the trade only.
  5. What would you do???

CET makes a nice printer. There is a big difference in quality between the express and the Q. If you need good quality at high speeds, go with the express. If you need high quality, sacrifice some of the speed and go with the Q. Not sure if they offer the Q in a hybrid?
  6. Trade Show Discount on Demo Printer

Be careful with "demo" printers sold off the trade show floor. Some manufacturers transport the printer from show to show before selling it. As we all know, printers run best when printing on a regular basis. They don't like to print for 2-3 days - sit for 3-4 days like they might in a trade...
  7. Box Truck Graphic Wrap installation easy way

I agree with mopar. Let the truck sit in the hot TX sun for 3-4 hours, start your install around 2pm - oh and don't forget to lay your graphics out in the sun so they are nice and warm. Or... throw out your crap vinyl, hire a pro and have it done right the first time.
  8. Direct to substrate pricing

Hello All - We just purchased an HP FB700 - trying to figure out how to price direct to substrate printing. We have a pretty good pricing structure for traditional roll to roll printing/laminating/mounting but this is a whole new ball of wax. I know pricing changes from region to region...
  9. Flatbed questions

We finally made a decision! After a very thorough, long process and thanks to a lot of good advice from the good people at Signs101 we have decided to go with the HP Scitex FB700. We took a very hard look at the Oce 360gt, the CET X-press 500, CET Q series, and the HP Scitex FB700. There...
  10. You Tube Videos

Nice promo video. The more versatile your online presence is - the better. Google places, Yelp, Youtube, Facebook, and Linkdin are all great places to be.
  11. Flatbed questions

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we have a love/hate relationship with our GS6000. We absolutely love our JV33. It makes me feel a little better about this journey hearing from a similar size/equipped shop as ours. Did you end up with the hybrid or the flatbed? We are leaning toward...
  12. Flatbed questions

Hey Insignia - You have a great website! It looks like we have almost an identical line up when it comes to equipment, the only difference is the CET. Maybe it's a sign! So it sounds like you have been happy with your CET. Has the service and support been all that you hoped it would...
  13. Flatbed questions

Hey Sean, Yes, Jeff and Matt did the demo. Couple of smart dudes! Wish I had them in my facility to run my gear. I'd venture to guess Oce is paying them a little more than I can afford. Given the choice, Caldera looks like the way to go but it appears as though Thrive has made some great...
  14. Flatbed questions

We are currently running Wasatch and it's worked great for years on our R2R gear. One great thing that came out of the HP demo was the ability to see the two brand new versions of Onyx Thrive and Caldera side by side. They have both supposedly mastered ripping pdf files. They can handle...
  15. Looking For A CNC Router

    Sent PM. Thanks,
  16. Flatbed questions

90% will probably be common substrates/cmyk projects (coro, foamcore, gator, acrylic, etc..). Now that I've seen the white ink in action, I think I can sell it to some of my higher end clients. We work with a lot of design firms and they tend to run with "new and cool" ideas. Do you print...
  17. New Océ Flatbed - Arizona 318GL - Any Thoughts?

Saw it in Chicago. Great quality but as mentioned above - very slow. Same platform as the 360 and 550 just half the heads of the 360. Still a very well built machine. Would be nice if Oce allowed a way to add print heads to make it a 360 when a shop grew into it. Buy the 318 for $95K, add...
  18. Flatbed questions

I have a message into the guys at CET. I know they were in the process of moving into a new facility so things might be moving a little slow over there. I requested a few sample files including one day/night reverse print on clear acrylic with white ink. This is one area where the Oce really...
  19. Flatbed questions

Insignia - Thank you for the offer, I may just take you up on it. Let me sort out the HP vs Oce situation first. I may take a second look at CET after all.
  20. Flatbed questions

Agreed. The bright lights and polished floors don't make for good printers. It boils down to good hardware. I could care less what color the printer is or how it looks as long as it produces first class images. My clients could also care less what the printer looks like as long as their...
