Well... finally back in the office from visiting Oce and HP.
Oce has a nice demo facility as well but it doesn't hold a candle to HP. HP really went way above and beyond with their new showroom/demo facility. Oce still put on an impressive demo and has a nice place, just not as nice...
Hello Neil,
Thank you for the detailed reply. Some great info and comparisons between the HP and Oce lines. I will be in Chicago later today looking at Oce.
Hope your new printer is running and making you $$ today!
Looks like Mimaki released a new printer at Drupa. It's their UV-LED JFX500-2131.
Has anyone heard any pros/cons?
Any experience with LED UV in general?
Here's what printweek.com had to say about the printer:
The 2,100mm x 3,100mm press comes equipped with six new Gen 5...
Had a great trip to the HP demo facility last week. They have an amazing place there in Atlanta. The guys really know their stuff. The FB500 & FB700 were impressive! I'm having a hard time justifying the additional $42K going from the FB500 to the FB700. It would be nice to print up to 98"...
Points well made. It sounds like the CET printers are easy to work on and they encourage you to do so. The Agfa printers look nice but they seem a little slow for the $$. I like the idea of asking the demo room to illustrate the pros/cons of their printer vs. printer X.
I'm sure the...
Thanks Guys. I will probably just stick with speed and quality and skip the white for now. I do like the flexibility of upgrading to white down the road with the HP or CET. Back to work so I can pay for the darn thing...
Good point. For the 15K, I would be better off reinvesting that in the shop. How do you feel about white ink? We get the occasional request but not regular requests. Not sure how this will change with a flatbed?
Don't want to compete with the GBC's of the world, we just want to increase...
Thanks for the info. I will reach out to CET tomorrow. I fly into Atlanta on Tuesday, maybe I can check out CET's products before leaving. The hybrids make me a little nervous as well but I like the idea of having an 8' RTR option in the shop.
We had a JV3 as well and it was a work horse. We have had great luck with Mimaki products. If you are handy, a used printer might be a good way to get back in the game. Just make sure your inks are still available and be careful about aftermarket inks with the Mimaki line. Cheers.
Welcome back!
I have an 8 month old Epson GS6000 I'm trying to sell. The quality is second to none with it's 8 color print system (cmykLcLmOG). Does an amazing job on vinyl and synthetics. It has a hard time with 13oz banner material... but does great with 18oz. Absolutely nothing wrong...
Keep your prices at fair market value for real estate signs. As mentioned above, they are always looking for the cheapest price, have high demands and are not loyal (for the most part). We refuse to play the price game with Realtors. We ask a fair price (not dirt cheap like some companies...
There is a pretty big learning curve with large format printing. I'm in the process of buying a flatbed but I have a lot of experience with solvent roll to roll machines. A good vendor will get you up and running but there is truly an art to making profiles and producing quality prints with...
Hello All -
I have been reading through past posts on signs101, watching youtube videos, and talking to vendors for the past 6 months and I think it's finally time to pull the trigger on a new flatbed printer. First... I wanted to thank all of you for your posts and info. There is a lot of...
Would it be possible to run a 6" x width of board "tail" on the end of the print? We have to do this from time to time on other printers. Not real convenient but it does the trick. Just a thougth. It could be a scrap piece of 12pt or other thin stock. Not sure how this will impact the...
We have had the same issue with the 18oz. We ended up creating a new profile which oversaturates the material. Not ideal for ink cost but the finished product looks darn nice.
