The windows driver doesn't offer media type, going through a RIP should though. But Dice may be on to something if the driver detects the media setting. Try different media or turn the machine off and access the printer preferences to see if show them then.
I have 5000 not the PS, if I use the print drive I'm offered Max Quality, Productivity, and Max Speed. These correspond to 1200x600, 600, and 150. Same if I go through Flexisign. Are you sure you have the drivers installed correctly?
Refurbished the HP's are usually in the $2500-$3500 range. 5K is definitely high. Research the ink and printhead costs as well. Prices range from 90-270 depending OEM or not. The prints quality is very nice, but as already stated it's not recommend for long-term out door use.
I've found that bullets in some fonts are not what you'd expect, thats why I use the character map. It provides a preview. I have it added to my quick launch toolbar for easy access.
I just recently picked up a a very reasonably priced HP DJ 5000. As it's not under any kind of warranty, the first thing I did was track down the service manual. Just offering it here for anyone else that might need it...
