  1. Falcon junior capping question

Actually, you will still get suction if those hoses are clogged. That assembly is a vacuum breaker, which is supposed to stop any siphons when the cleaning cycle is finished. If the hoses are clogged, the siphon may not break after a cleaning cycle, and there is a very good chance of the...
  2. strange happenings with a VJ1204

What's the level of the cyan cartridge? That can also happen if the cart gets sucked flat; it siphons ink from the cap as a result...
  3. Capping Units not draining.

You'll need to replace the cap tops. Any (good) dealer who sells Mimaki spare parts should be able to point you toward directions...
  4. Latex Allergies???

As mentioned before, HP "latex" is latex in name only... absolutely no relation to the latex rubber plant that everyone seems to have allergies to...
  5. HELP... no yellow?

It will come out (eventually!), it's just that there's probably a lot of bad ink in that line to clear out. You could always put the machine into Transport Mode to drain the ink, then allow it to refill, but that will waste about 60mL of ink (a quarter of each cartridge, roughly).
  6. HELP... no yellow?

Your machine ran so low on ink that it sucked the mixed waste ink in the cap back into the yellow line. Run a LittleCharge from the cleaning menu; that should help clear it up. Or just print a large file with 100% yellow until it starts looking normal.
  7. EnRoute 3 and Multicam 6100

Hi all, We're having a bit of an issue with getting our Multicam fired back up. Had some hardware trouble with the PC that required reinstalling Windows. After putting EnRoute 3.3 back on, we can't send output to the Multicam (which is connected on COM1). The Output Control Center is strangely...
  8. new rastek tf1000 having problems.... any help would be great

Just a dumb question, but what's the condition of your compressed air supply? Do you have an in-line drier and water traps in the line to prevent condensation? We have a Vutek QS3200 and ran into issues with white ink dripping because our line had too much condensation and we didn't notice...
  9. XTR-1313 Flatbed UV Looking at buying one, need some opinions

Is that the one from the last Shanghai show?
  10. Why the limited gamut?

I've worked with pretty much all the major RIP software packages at this point; my experience with Onyx is somewhat limited, but I've seen decent results produced with it by people who knew what they were doing. I think you can probably get a good profile with any RIP, if you know what you're...
  11. Mutoh Techs????

Give SPS-I a shout. They've got a tech at the Lenexa office who might be able to help. http://www.sps-i.com/index.php?option=com_contact&view=category&catid=33&Itemid=230
  12. XTR-1313 Flatbed UV Looking at buying one, need some opinions

That's the same picture as the Inwear unit. I'm going to hazard a guess and say that both Inwear and Docan are distributing somebody else's unit. There are a lot of Chinese companies that say they're manufacturing, only to be distributing a product from another company that has no Western...
  13. Raising an Epson 3000 from the dead

Well, first off, it doesn't use SCSI for its interface, but instead a Centronics parallel port. I take it that USB-parallel adapters don't seem to be working on Mac OS X? I did find this article on Apple's site: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2858 You may want to try using a parallel to...
  14. Toucan Woes

Vacuum leaks are the most common failure that causes negative pressure system errors. If you don't have any starting point (recent changes, parts replaced, etc) you will have to start at the pump and replace connections or tubing one at a time until you hit the subtanks. If you do have an idea...
  15. CNC Lasers, Routers, Plasma cutters

Regarding X-Y axis motion, for the best quality you will want a machine that uses servomotors for its motion systems. The less expensive machines substitute stepper motors, which while cheaper, suffer from resolution problems (aka ticking) when trying to do smooth curves. This is true anywhere...
  16. Epson 10K Head Rank info

The GS6000 is extremely locked down; I presume there are many Asian suppliers working on that but I haven't seen any working solutions yet. You will also have to make sure that the remnants of the Epson inks are completely flushed out of the lines (using Epson solvent flush) before introducing...
  17. Check Pump Counter error

And whatever you do, do NOT *UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE* select NVRAM by accident. Your machine will come up in Japanese if you do and you will lose all alignments and settings...
  18. Print Head Doctor

The difference between Spectra, Seiko, Konica and Epson heads is that the first three heads are classified as "industrial" heads. Their piezo chamber openings are typically 3-4 times the size of the chambers in an Epson head, and the heads themselves are usually constructed with much tougher...
  19. need new printer head or cap top or?

Not all third party inks are equals. Solvent chemistry is a total ***** and incompatible solvents are probably the cause of 80% of most third party ink issues; the remainder are mostly due to bad pigments/stabilization issues (AKA quality control). Always check MSDS sheets before buying a third...
  20. Mutoh falcon outdoor - E070err Yencoder

Rob, About the only way to tell if the motor is shot is to swap another motor in. Mutoh Japan never published any of the electrical specs for these machines, so it's more or less pointless to take a meter to it unless you're just checking to see if voltage is present (since the carriage moves...
