  1. White printing blue, yellow printing dark yellow, NO magenta, ink leaking

Yeah, I think I may start over and just replace all the dampers and cap top to be safe. But that is what I did 6 months ago that started a chain of reactions of major problems. At least I know now that there is an extra nipple on the bottom of the cap-top that needs a cover on it.
  2. White printing blue, yellow printing dark yellow, NO magenta, ink leaking

Cap top is new. Actually replaced it twice just in case. Spring is very strong. The ink is pooling just below the cap top on the carriage it sits on (metal). I am guessing this is related to the main problem since if I manually push the head over to the printing area blue ink seems to be...
  3. White printing blue, yellow printing dark yellow, NO magenta, ink leaking

Just when I think I got this machine going (been trying to get it right since October) I run into more problems. Roland VS-640. Finally got the machine where it printed fine 2 weeks ago when doing a bunch of test prints. Then last night decided to do a large print and the trouble started...
  4. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

Figured I'd update for reference. I ended up replacing the 3 long ribbon cables from the main board to the carriage board and that fixed it. Not sure why 2 different carriage boards were giving different results but I supposed one fitting on the board may have been slightly different than the...
  5. Transferring settings to new main board.

Yup...if I only had peck it would've been done last week.
  6. Transferring settings to new main board.

Yeah, I can pull information off the old board (machine still prints). The machine is working but I am having other issues that may be related to the board as it isn't printing properly after a board repair. I can pull info from it using copeck currently. Still not 100% sure the board is the...
  7. Transferring settings to new main board.

So I got a new main board but from what I understand the only way to get the settings transferred is through the peck6 software which I don't have. Anyway to do this?
  8. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

Well I will say unplugging that sensor did nothing to change the test print. But maybe if the sensor is fried it would be the same as unplugging it. As I said, it's a cheap fix so I'll try it anyway (even though it looks like it could be time consuming to change out).
  9. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

That is really odd but it is a cheap thing to try out so I'll order one today. I'll report back with (hopefully good) results.
  10. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

It's a Roland VS-640. Are you saying the crop sensor was causing a color to spray crazy like my samples? Seems kind of odd for that sensor to have anything to do with actually printing but considering that sensor is only about $20 I'd be willing to try it. Still not sure why the 2 different...
  11. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

Well my thought was to simply replace the main board but now that I am having different results from two different (brand new) carriage boards I am not confident a new board will will fix the problem. My original plan was to order a new main board last week until these carriage boards started...
  12. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

I guess this machine is going in the dumpster.
  13. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

To make things even more confusing, I just so happen to have an extra, brand new print carriage board laying around (was sent an extra by mistake). So I decided to install it just to make sure the one I just replaced wasn't the problem. Well the print results are different....what the...
  14. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

Here is the latest: Sent the board back for repair for what could possibly fix it (D/A converter changed out). That didn't fix it so I bought ANOTHER new head and that didn't fix it either. So I'm on my 3rd head, second carriage board, main board has been repaired twice. Replaced all the...
  15. Cleaning/Storing a used DX-7 printhead

So I just bought a new head since that "had" to be the solution to my problem only to find out that didn't fix anything. So now I have 2 used heads that I am guessing work just fine but now one is out of the machine and full of ink. What is the proper way to store this head? Or is it just...
  16. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

The cables from the carriage board to the head are new. I just checked them to make sure they were okay (unplugged them and plugged them all back in). And the print is still the same. I suppose I could try the old cables to make sure I don't have a bad one but sure that isn't the problem...
  17. MAJOR Magenta overspray no matter what color I print.

See attachment. Been having all kinds of problems trying to get this machine back up (this is the latest). Finally traced the problem down to the board needing repaired. After the repair the head prints now but magenta is spraying everywhere. The test print shows me printing just a black...
  18. LIMIT POSITION not easily separating tool carriage

I could see that the pin on the lock wasn't popping back up so I took it apart, and added some WD-40 to it. Now it works as it is supposed to. New limit is set and that is working. Now on to the next issue.
  19. LIMIT POSITION not easily separating tool carriage

Okay, that's what I thought as I'm pretty sure I have done this on my other machine at some point. Even if I get it to "take" the setting, it seems that the motor error occurs once the head tries to cap itself. The only odd thing I can see in the video that is slightly different than mine is...
  20. LIMIT POSITION not easily separating tool carriage

So I am supposed to force-ably separate the 2 carriages? In the video it looks like he just pulls on the tool carriage away from the edge with one hand. I have to pry hard to get mine apart. Which is what I have been doing but I am having the problems listed in the original post doing it that...
