  1. Foamcore vs Gatorfoam...

Okay, so I understand the differences in Foamcore and Gatorfoam from a materials standpoint, but what's really the difference in durability? I'm printing a full color digital print on ad-back vinyl and mounting it to gatorfoam. Foamcore is so much less expensive, but since I'm just using it...
  2. Backlit Film behind clear acrylic...

So the film won't hide the lamps?
  3. Backlit Film behind clear acrylic...

Where can I get it? I'm looking at Feller's (I know there are cheaper places), but I can't seem to find anything below $0.41 sq. ft. and that is for a calendered 1 year durability 3M. If I go with the backlit, I'll put it behind the clear plexi inside the lightbox.
  4. Backlit Film behind clear acrylic...

Okay, I've been searching around for backlit sign options for weeks. Do a ton of banners, window perf, ad-back vinyl to rigid substrates and have a client who has a backlit sign in place that is faded and wants new panels. It's 4ft x 4ft. I was going to print full color on translucent vinyl...

Hey, it's okay...sorry I didn't get back with you sooner. I've been a printing maniac learning all this stuff. Things are going well here in the midwest for us. We officially started on January 1st, but our website isn't up yet, UGH! We've got some local clients we are working on, in fact...
  6. Valuejet 1614 Onyx print modes and resolutions

So in Flexi Production manager, I have a profile for POP-UP and a profile marked Fellers POP-UP. The only difference I see in the profile is that the Fellers profile uses color mode CMYK (variable dot), and in the other just POP-UP profile the color mode is CMYK. What is the difference in...
  7. Replacing image in retractable banner stand...

Thanks for the input. Hey Bigdawg, everybody talks about the lexjet stuff being worth it even though it is more expensive. After only a tiny bit of research, I think it is actually cheaper since you don't have to laminate it. I'll have to get some, but where can I buy it? Can't find it in...
  8. Replacing image in retractable banner stand...

Hey Everybody... I have a question about replacing the image in a retractable banner stand. I'm using a Benchmark Standard Retractable Banner stand and I took the existing banner out and it left a lot of tape residue from the adhesive on the stand that attaches the banner to the top and...
  9. how "eco" is ecosolvent ink?

Garlic has one heck of a smell...is it unsafe? I guess if you are of the vampire persuasion.
  10. PopUp from Fellers or other No Curl??

I have used pop-up for retractables. As images are concerned, it is my favorite thing to print on. I've even done small photos (8x10, 11x17, etc.) on my scraps. I think with any material in retractables, it should be laminated, but I'm not sure exactly what to laminate it with for best...
  11. Omega SignBoard with Oracal 3551RA

I'm still a novice, but will laminating make it easier to work with because it will make the overall material thicker? I've not done much with applying ad-back vinyl, doing mostly banner materials, pop-up, mesh, window perf, etc.
  12. Omega SignBoard with Oracal 3551RA

No. But I think I may have found a solution. There is the control tac (3M), RS (Avery), or Command Form (Oracal) feature that might be better suited for this type of application. I'm gonna try it (I have a sample roll) and I'll let you know how it works.
  13. Omega SignBoard with Oracal 3551RA

Hey Everybody...it's insanely cold here in KC. Anyway, I have some Omega SignBoard and some Oracal 3551RA I'm printing on and trying to apply to it. It is supposed to have that Air Regress feature but I'm having huge problems installing this stuff. I'm printing a graphic to completely cover...
  14. Perforated Static Cling?

Do eithe Clear Focus or General Formulations have a product like PanoStar made by Continental Graphix? The only Clear Focus and General Formulations stuff I can find is self-ahdesive on the back. This PanoStar uses PanoStick transfer tape that applies a low tack "micro-dots" of adhesive over...
  15. Perforated Static Cling?

Ben here from KC Is anybody making such a thing? Looking for interior window perf that is static cling? Is it possible to make it that way with all the perfs? That PanoStick isn't as aggressive as I'd like on it's adhesive. Thanks, Ben
  16. Interior Window Perf / PanoStar with Pano Stick

I just got a roll of PanoStar Non-Adhesive Perf Vinyl that you put PanoStick adhesive over the top of the image to adhere it to the inside of a window (Interior Window Perf). The roll of vinyl has the backing any perforated/mesh banner material would have, but this stuff is bubbling up from its...
  17. Contour Cut Window Perf...

How accurately do they need to be placed (registration marks on regular vinyl) over the top of the perf to ensure the cutter cuts accurately? If they are off by even a fraction of a millimeter, will the cuter not cut accurately?
  18. Contour Cut Window Perf...

Okay, I have searched and read the threads on people's issues with contour cutting window perf. My cutter cuts it just fine from a blade height, force, etc. stand point, but it has trouble seeing the registration marks. Is there a particular window perf that has a backer that makes cutters...
  19. Cartridge Life...

A printer tech at feller's told me that from a cost perspective, your ink cost is about 10 percent per square foot of what the media you are printing on cost. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but the guy has been a printer technician for 30 years and I would say it might be a good starting...
  20. Multiple Computers?

I am about to get Flexi Pro and was told that it is wise to have my design computer and my rip computer separate. Is this crucial? I know how big the files being sent to the printer can be (using a Mutoh ValueJet 54") but I also have extensive experience in video editing and know that video...
