  1. Difficulty cutting Ultraboard & PVC on Steeltrak Keencut

I've got the 210cm version. What is the temp in your unit, and how fast are you trying to cut? 5mm should cut clean on one pass if you go slow, 2-3 passes if it's cold. Years ago, I ordered a load of "ultra-smooth" PVC, thinking I could use it instead of DiBond (for mounting gloss prints), but...
  2. Best Shop Management Software for Working with Multiple Product Catogories

Just checked, (and Gulp) FMpro11. I've done test openings, and latest desktop version has no problem with the data. I'm thinking of just using the Filemaker hosting, as our IT department wears many hats, but I'd hate to miss out on any major advantages by being on prem. We're moving locations...
  3. Best Shop Management Software for Working with Multiple Product Catogories

We're in the process of updating our aged (FM12) database - I'd been wondering about the advantages of continuing to host on premises or in cloud. One of the things we're looking at is connections to our website (simple product orders) as well as out to our accounts software (sage cloud). Would...
  4. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

Thanks JB, I'll have a look.
  5. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

Six years should do it. Logitec mice have those nice PTFE feet, but the bigger mouse on the right looks ready to take on any colour control action that might be hand to it. Now if 3M owned Munsell Color, I'd be able to spec the perfect neutrality I crave.
  6. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

With that Dinoc stuff, we could make mouse(user) cages, and they'd never know
  7. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

Dinoc looks like a strong contender, thank you. I think an antislip desk top would lead to much spilled coffee - people don't tend to expect resistance on a table top. But a vandal resistant laminate might work. However, I've seen mice play very badly on some gloss surfaces.
  8. I've been Asked to be a Contractor

Kid you not, I recognised the pattern, not the object (have one I use for camera scans)
  9. I've been Asked to be a Contractor

I think I still have a couple of those cutting matts
  10. Recent problems with Signs365

Everyone screws up, it's how ya fix it :*} *Except your Nemesis!
  11. Canon Pro 2100 for stickers and decals.

I run a few rolls a month of IJM 538 (long term) and IJM 528 (6 month removable) on an old 8400, cold laminated. Some of these have been subjected to years of London exposure. Depends on who you're selling to, and what your permenace threshold is. These are calendered materials, so subject to...
  12. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

Got a potential order to wrap some desk tops, grey. These are a mix of existing 80's, 90's, 00's solid office desks, almost all with a nice smooth roundover. Requirement is neutral grey, hardwearing, and capable of surviving (well, being used with) Apple's god-damned awful optical mice. I'm...
  13. Recent problems with Signs365

Hey, where's the love for FireSprint? I wish we had them available to us right-pondians (though I do blame them for my descent into the second circle of FileMaker, encouraged by a few others here).
  14. Metallic aqueous paper 44" or bigger on a roll?

    Might try https://www.dtgweb.com/epson-metallic-photo-paper-glossy-44-x-100.html
  15. Question static electricity on sheets of coro....

You don't order (freedom units) 10L containers, and decant into spray bottles?
  16. trying to become better acquainted with illustrator, got a few questions

Our FM solution was built by an ex-colleague about a decade ago, who was using Lynda.com at the time. Chris Ippolitte's course shows he was a good student - makes reverse engineering all the structure, a tough less daunting. I'll check out Simon Allardice once my grip is better.
  17. Mobile Sheet Cart

That's got me thinking. Moving to a new production facility in the Autumn, and where we'll be, there is a loading dock (our space will be to small to have paletised stock movement) but there will be a ramp, to (small) production area). Something like that, with a quick connect/disonnnect to...
  18. Question static electricity on sheets of coro....

I'll take that, and give it a go - different substrate, and increases the ignition point, given we're talking sparks.
  19. trying to become better acquainted with illustrator, got a few questions

There is something to be said for just doing a course https://www.linkedin.com/learning/illustrator-one-on-one-fundamentals I find 1.5X is about right speed. Yes, it costs money to join linkedin/learning, but Deke is a pretty good teacher. I often played this when I used to teach Photoshop or...
  20. Question static electricity on sheets of coro....

Time to disassemble some old hard drives. Today, sheets of 5mm pvc (filmed both faces, 'cos that seems to help) decided the best route to ground, while loading them on the panel cutter, was the frame of my glasses.Repeated zpas to the centre of my eyebrow. 80/20 mix - any particular reason...
