I usually have to change the extension around (.eps, .ai, .pdf, etc.) until I find out what type it really is. Eventually you'll find a program that will open it. Just did this same thing last week, turned out it was a .pdf and it wall all gravy after that!

I use Character>Glyphs, and it works great for me.

Most likely you are getting a composite black out of the tiff, where in the eps you have a spot color set to 100% K, which is never a good black!

To me it looks like a problem with the media. Is it old, or has it been in contact with something. I can't tell for sure, (I am on my laptop and the screen just aint that great) but it seems like the problem could be there before it goes into the printer, and ink is not taking to certain areas...

Blackadder is one that I see alot. I personally do not like it, but maybe it would work for you?

Make sure that you are using a composite black (not just 100% on the K value). There should be quite a bit of color from each channel as well.

I don't know if this is a font or something that has been modified, but if anyone knows it is would help!

Take a look at the other thread, there are some web sites to take a look at. Try sign.com or mr-clipart.com

100k seems very small for full bus, but if it works even better. Generally when this problem happens to me it seems to be on a large file. Sometimes the easy "newbie" approach actually works for me the best. Convert the spot to process, print a test and bust out the pantone book to check for a...
