  1. WTF-Flexi Not Showing New Print Mode

Ah! So I can't just add an 8 Pass mode if there was never one to begin with? That makes complete sense - thank you!
  2. WTF-Flexi Not Showing New Print Mode

I just cloned the generic pvc banner profile that was already existing from HP on the printer. I did not update firmware, though. I'll try that.
  3. WTF-Flexi Not Showing New Print Mode

Happy Friday! Does anyone know why Flexi won't allow me to add a new print mode? I just cloned and modified the stock generic banner profile to add an 8 pass mode for Jetflex. It's there and selected on the printer itself, and it also appears under Printer Options, but it's not available to...
  4. Hp latex 315 textile printing

Just about any textile media will work, even uncoated. You just have to be mindful of what the others have mentioned - if the material is porous then the ink will just run through and ruin your platen. The latex ink needs to be able to sit on top of the media to be cured. And yes, I would just...
  5. Hp latex 315 textile printing

Check out the Media Locator and you can filter to Canvas, Textiles, Polyester, etc. That should get on the right track in terms of media. From there, just use the appropriate profile and print https://www.printos.com/ml/#/medialocator
  6. Nicer-looking Wood or Metal A-frames?

Painting them is a great idea. I may try that on one of them since I have so many. Budget isn't really a consideration here since there isn't an event company involved - it's for our own internal use. Obviously, it will be paid for out of some departments budget, but if we made a nice pair and...
  7. Nicer-looking Wood or Metal A-frames?

We get ours from Harbor: https://harborsales.net/Home/ProductList.aspx?ProductTypeId=189&FilterA-Frame+Type=Plastic+A-Frames It's called 'Street Sign Pro'
  8. Nicer-looking Wood or Metal A-frames?

Holy geez - you weren't kidding! I just looked too and there a bunch. I like this one the best so far:
  9. Nicer-looking Wood or Metal A-frames?

So, our local historic review board doesn't like vinyl/plastic, but my predecessor must have ignored this and so now I'm sitting on a surplus of signicades. They are the nicer looking ones with the snap-in retainers, but as we become more and more event-driven, I keep bumping up against the...
  10. Adhesive backed photobase vs printable vinyl

Yeah, looks like this is more of an art reproduction media - hence the 'giclee' in the product name. Maybe the adhesive backing is to aid in mounting to foam board? As Humble mentioned, doesn't look like it's suited for your Roland: https://sfsupplies.com/pdf/Magic_DMPHA7_DMPLA7_Specifications.pdf
  11. Alpha Paper cockling in HP 315 no matter what I try

Mark - is this the Performance Paper you're referencing: https://hascographics.com/print-media/sihl-digital-media/sihl-performance-sl-8-mil-paper/sihl-performance-sl-paper-8-mil-54x165/ Seems very similar, and my non-profit employer will like the lower price point. Do you have warehouses on the...
  12. Alpha Paper cockling in HP 315 no matter what I try

Here's what gave me the best results: 20 pass, 80% saturation, bi-directional, no delay, 160 degree temp.
  13. Alpha Paper cockling in HP 315 no matter what I try

Thanks! They only sent a 3 yard sample, so after trying the OEM profile, I tried 20 pass at 80% and it was SOOO much better. And thanks for the link - it's bookmarked now!
  14. Alpha Paper cockling in HP 315 no matter what I try

JT- did you have better results with higher passes / lower density? I'm printing on the Synaps OM that JBurton linked above and I'm having the same cockling and warping issues.
  15. Gerber FX refills into Edge 1 & 2 Cartridges

I don't think they convert that way. I think the adapters convert Edge 1&2 foils for the FX. Are these what you were thinking of: https://www.shopgms.com/markets.html/aircraft.html
  16. Hiring Designers for my Sign Company

I agree with the others. Hiring a sign designer is an uphill battle. I would also recommend the trade school route. We're currently partnering with a couple local trade schools and implementing a career pathway for graduates to apprentice with us. We have folks from all the trades, so it isn't...
  17. Taking over a sign shop in PA!

Welcome! Interesting how you've had a circular career path. As Terry said there's a lot of knowledgeable folks here. Have fun getting up to speed in your new (old) shop :thumb:
  18. So this was a first ...

They probably snack on stuff like this all day
  19. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

This was our situation at a previous shop, except the gal also knew signs. She was great at selling, but we had an even better production staff. They churned through the work and so sales were always lagging. Eventually the sales dried up and there was no work - and that shop closed. Pay was a...
