Artbot..... the 10 sheets and hour is 4x8 1200x600 draft quality. If we move to Production quality, speed drops to roughly 4.5 4x8's per hour.

Im contemplating a setup with different size shirt mounts so you can print a wide array of sizes. I dont see it being very expensive. Maybe around $1000 or so for templates, mounts, and shirt platen / clamps.
DXF or EPS out of illustrator is importable by almost any CNC software. A plug in would be a PITA. You want the operator setting feeds and speeds in his software. this is not simple like a vinyl cutter.....
all models have issues. I'm really liking our CET 500 5x10 with the spectra heads.....
all I know is we can print 10 - 4' x 8' prints an hour and that my friends is straight $$$
I cannot comment on the HP, but I've been a roland guy for 10 years and cannot say enough good things about their build quality and accuracy. I would check out the new XR-640. Its on my short list of things we'll be adding very soon.
Its simple. We had a need ( 250 shirts in 24 hours ) I like big designs and no local screen printers seem to get it.
We pride ourselves in being a shop that can do anything!!!! Today I printed a 2X shirt sleeve to sleeve just to prove it could be done.
As for pre treatment, none at all...
Here are some shirts we printed recently. I'm pretty amazed with how well they hold up and how well it prints. We developed a neat stretching system and template setup to print them.....
