  1. Don't want heat on for regular cut vinyl

In Versaworks, under Printer Controls/Heater Controls/Use Custom Settings you can uncheck your heaters (pre/print/dryer). This will override the printer settings for that job.
  2. Windows 10

After I installed Windows 10, when I used Chrome for the first time, there was a banner at the top prompting me to update my chrome, so I did. Maybe I wasn't up to date before I installed W10? I'm not at home right now, so I'm not able to check which version of Chrome I have, but I will try to...
  3. Windows 10

Same happened to me, so I updated my chrome and it seems to work fine now.
  4. Opinion on 2 versions of logo.

Looking at the two together, your eye is drawn towards the one on the right. It is clean and legible, the colours are a great combo, I like it, though some may say the colours have been overused, but, let's face it, haven't most colour combos been overused over the years? The advantage yours has...
  5. Your experience with Grimco?

Hi Colin. We have dealt with our "local" (Calgary) Grimco for many years now, through several changes, from East West Plastic, to Proveer, and now Grimco. We are dealing with the same competent staff, many of whom have been there several years. So far the change has been fairly seamless, though...
  6. Battery Backup Units for Digital Printers

I think there was a thread about this not too long ago. Seems to me you need to get one appropriate for the power draw or load of your printer. I don't think the more common off-the-shelf models will perform up to par for you.
  7. Roland print "scratch"

Looks like your black and cyan heads have quite a few clogged/deflected nozzles. That would certainly add to your problem. Might want to try a head soak?
  8. Ready2Print banner

    Yep. :)
  9. It's Back!!!!!

Great to have you back! Missed checking in everyday. I even tried going to SignForums International, but there was less activity there than there was here, even WITH the site down!! :omg: I submitted a question there two days ago, no response yet. I submitted the same question here... got a...
  10. Ready2Print banner

We are using the grommeted version. Just have to make sure to raise the print head to high, and I use the media clamps to prevent the banner bunching at the pinch rollers. Never had an issue. Mark BTW, just received an email from the local Mutoh vendor, (Calgary), she attached a pic of the...
  11. Ready2Print banner

Looks like you are right. Specs on the Mutoh site say that it was designed exclusively for the 1204, but can't see how that can be right, unless they changed something. Like I said, we've printed on this product with our Rolands for several years. I sent a message to a local supplier, see what...
  12. Ready2Print banner

Thanks. I did do a Google search for the Ready2Print banner, and Mutoh kept popping up, but I ignored it. Off to check it out. :)
  13. Ready2Print banner

Hi. Does anybody here print on the Ready2Print pre-grometted banner? I have, for a few years now, with great success, but, all of a sudden our supplier can no longer get it, and after a quick search didn't find too many suppliers that do carry it. Also, tried their website, www.ready2print.ca...
  14. Getting a soda bubble effect when laminating, not sure why

I have had the similar issue with the Avery 1360, especially on longer runs. I mostly use Arlon 3220, and NEVER have an issue, so we use the 1360 very infrequently, and never if the print is more than 6 feet. We print on Avery 1005 and lam with the Arlon 3220, no issues. Seal 54 Base laminator...
  15. What is the perf command, similar to "CutContour?"

Are you using Versaworks on your SC545-EX?
  16. What is the perf command, similar to "CutContour?"

It is the name that VW recognizes, not the colour..... though it does have to be a spot colour. Mark
  17. Corel import pdf issue

In Corel, try edit/paste special and chose "Picture (enhanced Metafile)" I use that quite often going from Illy to Corel. Doesn't always retain transparencies but comes in as a vector so should be easy to recreate. Mark
  18. Cutter tapping and missing in spots

I know this might sound silly, but have you tried unplugging the power cord for a few minutes? I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with my XC-540. It would randomly go to the far left of the printer and start cutting in a 1" area, almost like there were thousands of nodes there and it...
  19. What type of laminate works best on your UV prints with full bleed & dark BG?

I heard that Mactac make a laminate that works well with UV inks. Mark
  20. Beer Label Design

Love it!! Though I do drink beer with names such as Pig's A*S*S* http://www.harvestmoonbrew.com/index.php?p=pigs-***-porter and Moose Drool http://bigskybrew.com/beers/moose-drool/ :beer
