  2. font title

Looking for both of these: The TEMCO almost seems like Clarendon Bold with angled serifs. I don't seem to have this font. Any suggestions? Tim
  3. Ford Escape Pricing (not a wrap)

thanks for the replies...i'd still appreciate some pricing advice as a hundred bucks either way MAY make or break me getting the job. When i agreed to do some proofs i was unaware of this particular companies corporate structure, meaning i thought i did a pleasing design sticking to established...
  4. Ford Escape Pricing (not a wrap)

I laid this out according to the company's basic logo design applying to a new(er) Ford Escape mini SUV. Unfortunately i was unable to find an exact layout for a 2008-9 model. Anyway, the job will be all 3M reflective including a contour cut digital printed light standard using black, white and...
  5. R Tape VinylEFX - chrome vinyl. is it suitable for whole car wrap?

the chrome paint is expensive as hell, extremely hard to successfully apply, and generally doesn't look quite like chrome in the end. It usually more resembles a polished aluminum look. As far as the metalized polyester goes, most of us already know what a PITA it is to work with, that isn't...
  6. need to make gloss vinyl matte finish

leave it out in the sun for a few years.... seriously....short answer NO. Unless you laminate it with a matt/semi-gloss you're stuck. Anything you spray on it may effect long term durability. Why not search out the proper sheen in the right vinyl product from the get-go? Tim
  7. new logo tweaked

i like the Pixar inspired one but the other not so much. BTW....double check your spelling. Quickest way in the world to look a bit silly. Tim
  8. Logo Design Help

those are awesome...totally killer ideas, Nice! on another topic no ones has seemed to mention...i think the name is the problem...or at least the cow. Makes me think of preventing people from rustling cattle. Too western, too bovine. It doesn't give one a mental image of stopping someone from...
  9. Grumpy Jenkins Font Type

correct as we're looking at a small die cast model, which some hack most likely did the artwork to be similar to the real thing. Do you want to replicate the crappy scanned artwork on a scale model OR the actual hand painted & gold leafed ORIGINAL Grumpy's Toy Camaro??? If you want the latter...
  10. What do you think of my new logo?

Sometimes a "logo" isn't a logo at all, just a assemblage of fonts or lettering to make a business name. Maybe your next purchase should be a book on basic sign layout and design like Mastering Layout: On the Art of Eye Appeal, and some lotion to help build thick skin. Perhaps changing your name...
  11. how long to wait after painting plywood

why would you put yourself thru all the headache, unless it's for a cheap customer? Educate the customer that this plywood is ready to be replaced. Sell them on a nice new piece of Alumalite or any of the other excellent 'no paint' substraites. Me, i won't / don't screw with old wood or...
  12. Gemini Letters Re-Paint question....

I just got some cast aluminum Gemini letters for a client to match some existing ones....and the color is not too close. My fault. Instead of shipping them back i want to simply re-paint them. Do any of you out there think that a spray-bomb like Rustoleum or Krylon (a name brand) will last? Or...
  13. my competiter is a 3 m dealer

so if this company has ponied up all the money to be a 3m dealer...no doubt he has to have adequate stock, and that certainly isn't free, and basically buys his material deeper than you can, he sells in the same market you do? Is his sign co run as a separate entity or subsidiary? Sure, it may...
  14. banner layout

great job on that layout! i also think the addition of "We Sell" is silly.....it goes without saying. Unless he rents the stuff too what's the point? Hey, come over and look at MY stuff....oh NO, it's NOT for sale...just to look at! Use the space to better layout important copy...and...
  15. Acrylic urethane catalized paint

as far as Matthews goes, i don't know but either single stage or basecoat/clearcoat automotive systems can and do outgass...there is a lot of variables in the urethanes. Some are high build, some dry real quick, some have better production/speed qualities, & some better for custom applications...
  16. Acrylic urethane catalized paint

ANY urethane will out gas for a while...i would be verry leery of having that short of deadline. It's best to wait a few days if you can. If you don't you certainly will have imprinting of the vinyl texture onto the fresh paint....meaning if you take the vinyl off it will have a flat texture and...
  17. Put up a sign in LA and get arrested, $1 million bail

The DA was on the AM news and said the owner of the building has had many many warnings and issues....the building in question was supposedly built in 1924 (don't quote me) and has hundreds of pounds of banner material hanging from eye bolts. With the Academy Awards this weekend, and many many...
  18. This will make you quit using Illustrator....

that work is killer but in some of those wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just take a photograph? I mean absolutely beautiful work....but is there a market for that type of illustration these days or all those just portfolio/demo pieces? Tim
  19. Shop Boat Wrap....

X2 X2 X2....make your name the dominate feature NOT the fish... make it so you can see the thing on the water across the lake... Tim
  20. Partial Wrap Critique

the plaid makes me think of 3M Scotch products....i think you'll be over the plaid long before the wrap has outlived the usefulness. I like your earlier efforts better. Clean & simple. Tim
