  1. Let down by Roland

For sure, but this started at about 10-12 months of light use. I'd like to explore this further if anyone is willing & able to help. I'm largely using Oracal 3651 matte, and have downloaded their canned profile, but nothing further. 1 year, but again, the system seems all set up for them to...
  2. Let down by Roland

Yup, me too. It's interesting how Roland can conveniently distance themselves from the dealer when it suites them. Yes, I emailed Roland and supplied links to this forum where I originally posted the problem, and still have the emails between the dealer & I. I just haven't done the litigious...
  3. Let down by Roland

Yes, of course. Perhaps, but the (documented) fact is, I brought it to the attention of one of their representatives within the warranty period. Sadly, we see this pell-mell flight from responsibility everywhere now-a-days. It would be nice if Roland would do the right thing, and not act...
  4. Let down by Roland

    aka: Magnifying glass
  5. Let down by Roland

Ahh, I see. Well, without using one of those, this shot shows how the black is going down. This was a K-only print which was paused part-way through, and shows a weird swirly pattern, as opposed to nice, fine dots.
  6. Let down by Roland

Can that be used while the heads are still installed, or do they need to be out? My new tech looked at the heads with a flashlight and said that it all looked good.
  7. Let down by Roland

    What is a "loupe"?
  8. Let down by Roland

BTW, here the other test print, showing the permanently deflected nozzles.
  9. Let down by Roland

Thanks for the reply Gino. What do you think about some of the specific technical points I made, and my general position & feeling - am I justified?
  10. Let down by Roland

I’ve had my Roland SP540i for over 2 years now (purchased new). I am not a high-production shop (1-man show), and am fastidious in taking care of…….everything. I have only used Roland ink, and never let more than 2-3 days go by without printing 4 good-sized rectangles, each filled with C,M,Y,K...
  11. Stumped

Yup, but I'm looking for the actual font. Thanks.
  12. Stumped

Ran this through the mill but got nothin'. Any ideas?
  13. Printing on clear and laminating

Just realize that when printed on clear with an inkjet, many colors will go completely washed out when applied to the bike, depending on color combinations.
  14. Deposit, deposit....

Yes, I'm pretty much of the position that I won't get involved with committees. They're essentially a bunch of individuals who are not experts in the given area of concern, all thinking that they are. "A camel is a horse designed by a committee"
  15. Deposit, deposit....

How timely. I recently nearly got burned by not demanding a deposit. I do lots of boat lettering, and the process is wrought with potentially uncompensated time. So I’ve devised a system where if the customer wants me to come and do a site visit to the marina to measure, color match and assess...
  16. 210 Semi-Gloss Lam?

I recently got an automated email from one of my suppliers mentioning a sale on Oracal 210 laminate, and it listed the gloss, matte, and "Semi Gloss" which I wasn't aware of. Anybody use this? It would be nice for me to stock just one lam instead of matte and gloss.
  17. Can't find it

    Any ideas?
  18. Stumped

Ahh yes, I thought it seemed familiar. Find My Font didn't identify this one. Thanks!
  19. Stumped

Sorry for the crap image. Any ideas on this?
  20. Mystery serif

Don't spend any more time on this, apparently it's called "Clarins" and was designed by Jean-François Rappo. I don't think it's available to buy.
