  1. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

Absolutely! That was why we originally specced a 4"x4" PT post in a 9"x36" hole. You'd think guys in the planning department would know how strong undisturbed earth is and that the depth of a hole is typically more important than the diameter. No, that is just the cost of the permit. We've had...
  2. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

Yes, despite the fact that our town is full of non-compliant, unpermitted signs with very little enforcement, the inspector will actually make us dig the holes, cover them with plywood for safety and then go out and measure them BEFORE we can pour the concrete and set the posts. To make...
  3. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

After some wrangling but still not getting them to admit that they were ignoring the fact that on Engineering Express the default, built in size and depth hole is 24"x36" regardless of the other factors, they are now claiming today that "we're just trying to work with you" and have adjusted the...

If Whataburger's sauce packets that Kerning? Texas_Signmaker? ( sorry, I get confused on which identity it is from month to month) is complaining about are anything like the EXTRA sauce you can get at In N Out Burger, it's like a 2oz packet about 6 times the size of a typical ketchup packet. If...
  5. Some clients...

Everybody has a different business model and approach to customer relations. Phil revealed that this client only came to him for design work, was a high volume customer and never questioned a fee before. I take him at his word and trust that he wasn't trying to pull anything on some...
  6. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

You don't use concrete for permanent sign posts? I can understand digging to that depth in places where the ground freezes hard, but we're in a very temperate part of California where it rarely freezes and our soil is very well drained.
  7. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

We're nowhere near where the Santa Ana winds blow. I used the tools at ATHazards.org and chose a Risk Category 1 and 75 mph average wind speed over 25 years. Plugging those numbers in got an approval on a 4"x4" PT fir post in a 12"x36" hole, which we'd accept if its the only way the sign is...
  8. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

I explained that the default on that website lists a 24"x36" as a minimum default setting. I can understand them running it through a calculator like that, which is what we do as well. They should be smart enough to know that its locked into a 24"x36" concrete filled hole as a default.
  9. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

We will be using 5,000 lb. QuikCrete on this. When I did the calculator for the 24"x36" size and depth holes he is demanding, its 15x 60 lb. bags PER hole. That just seems like crazy overkill for a sign this size and less than 8' from grade to the top.
  10. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

I'm fine with the depth, we applied with 10' 4'x4' PT posts in 9"x36" holes. Even the 6"x6" posts they are demanding aren't a big deal. It's the freakin' 24" diameter hole x 36" deep holes that we object to. Their reply is like, "if you don't like it, go hire an engineer". Sure, add another...
  11. Wind speeds, post sizes and hole size and depth for a 4'x8' panel ground sign

Our City planning just kicked back a permit application for a double sided 4'x8' 3/4" thick MDO ground sign saying it needs 6"x6" posts installed into 24"x36" holes. The top of the sign is only 84" above grade. We are well inland from the coast and not subject to heavy winds. I tried to...
  12. Roland VP 540 AND VERSAWORKS loosing IP connection and stop printing not connected

Ours has been in that condition for two years now. We are convinced that some small connection on the motherboard or network adapter is weak or has loosened and until it warms up past 75 degrees and expands, it loses connection and gives that error. I've looked at all the components on the main...
  13. Recommendations for round cornering signs

For the money and our volume it's perfectly adequate. If we started doing a bigger volume of things needing a more robust tool, we'd buy it.
  14. Recommendations for round cornering signs

We use this for thin gauge aluminum, magnetic, ACM, styrene, 3mm and less PVC, coroplast, etc.
  15. Need Help need help with manifold replacement

IF you make sure that you order from their U.S. website, Digiprint Supplies is well priced and they will arrive in a few days. Just make sure you order from the U.S. site. The parent site does not automatically direct your purchase to that warehouse.
  16. Wall wrap

We've been using this on more and more projects of all kinds with great results. https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/interior-exterior-paints-stains/product-catalog/sshpu/super-spec-hp-urethanes
  17. Opinion Never really happened before to me.............

I wasn't responding to you. My suggestion of paying more attention on OUR end and simply storing the signs until they are needed seems to be as good of advice as half the other responses, but god forbid you restrain yourself and not be tempted by your knee jerk reflex to dump on anything I post.
  18. Opinion Never really happened before to me.............

Our school district sends us a reusable, SINGLE purchase order for all orders under $300 at the start of every fiscal year. Its meant to streamline and speed up fulfillment of the smaller orders so the administration office can focus on bigger tasks then spending time approving every little...
  19. Opinion Never really happened before to me.............

Your shop would punish a client sending you thousands worth of work every week for a clerical error with a substantial surcharge? There are loan sharks who treat their clients better. If they order this same item repeatedly only weeks or months apart as was stated, why wouldn't just pack them...
