More than likely, you have a blockage in the somewhere in the line. The VP uses Y-splitters and because of this, a blockage will sometimes affect two colors. I would sat it is time to get a syringe loaded with cleaning solution and use it to unclog the lines below the cap tops down to the waste...
The wipe is to clear the nozzle plate of contaminants like excess ink, etc. The wiper will make an audible noise as the carriage passes over it. It is entirely normal for the Latex 300 series, and is not a sign of any type of problem.
PolyVinylChloride (PVC) material certainly contains materials that are known to cause cancer, including Plasticizers. Look into California Proposition 65 for more information on this. On the ink side of the equation, nickel (commonly used as a colorant in Yellow ink) is also a known carcinogen...
I would start with bandwidth on the LAN. Large-format printers consume a lot of bandwidth when printing, and if they are being starved for data, you will get a pause between pass scans while the buffer is being filled for that pass.
RML (Roland Media Library) is a self-contained file that contains everything that the Versaworks RIP needs to print on the media that the profile was built for. This includes information like Ink Limiting, Linearization data, and the ICC profile itself. It installs into VW through the Media...
If all of the tiles (3) were printed at the same time, there are two potential things that may have happened:
1) You lost nozzles in the middle of the print run. I would guess that perhaps the Cyan / Light Cyan heads would be a likely culprit in this case.
2) The other possibility is that...
That looks to be vertical banding (in the direction of media travel) not horizontal banding (carriage travel direction). If it is only on one side of the machine, I would first suspect that the media is not feeding properly through the machine. Possibly the transport wheels are differently...
We've successfully run General Formulations Concept brand cling products (white and clear) through the HP Latex machines. GF publishes media profiles for the Latex 260 and L25500 on their site.
In many respects, the proverbial acid test of a color-managed workflow is to produce neutral results in output through the black - white (grayscale) continuum. Because the printer is using all four colors of ink to produce the grays throughout the ramp, it is very easy and quite common for...
Light inks in the HP Latex inksets (lc and lm specifically) are part of the C and M channels, and do not increase gamut volume in midtones in any significant way. In fact, with the prior latex models, many RIPs have over-used the light inks in their canned profiles, increasing coalescence and...
As you may know, the Latex 360 is a contone (continuous tone) printer, whereas the Latex 260 (as well as almost all other printers in this market segment) are halftone devices.
Contone printers take direct control over various functions, and these typically include dot patterns and ink splits...
You would need to purchase a media that is purpose-built to print with solvent inks. Media manufacturers make products for specific markets and ink chemistries. As I stated previously, some laminate films are PVC-based and others are not PVC. If the product is not PVC, it would need a specific...
Solvent inks will react with most uncoated PVC-based materials, including print media and vinyl laminate films. If the media is not PVC-based, then solvent-receptive top-coating is a requirement to print with solvent ink. If this laminate is polyester-based (or other non PVC), and there are no...
Solvent ink (including eco-solvent) does not produce any type of salable (remotely acceptable) image quality when put onto raw paper stock. The ink wicks into the paper, lines lose detail and color becomes diffused and muddy. Solvent inks need to react with coatings that are applied to the print...
There are several good options for latex ink printers that will fit the bill for this application. I would look at Aberdeen Fabric (perhaps the 8100 product), or Berger or Fisher Textiles. There are several (or more) good options for this.
