  1. refillable 220 cartridges

Have lots of them, but why would you risk contaminating your system with refilling them?
  2. Explain your avatar / name

I started using Cartoad back in the early days of the internet and email and needed a nick name for AOL or Comp u serve (which was a long distance phone call then for us). Cartoad came for the nick name for the craft I was in at the railroad, a freight car repairman. The avator is from a...
  3. Glossy Material for Retractable Banners

Recently at a trade show saw some great looking glossy retractable banners. They were printed on an Epson (not solvent per vendor). We have a Roland SP540 eco solvent printer, and todate the only thing that we get a decent result on is the POP 200 from Fellers. It is a mat finish and I would...
  4. Customer Rude Behavior

Thought some of you might get a kick out of this. Had a customer come into the shop with some signs that they wanted to be recovered. Ok, we can do that, so generated a price for what they wanted done, and she had a fit! Thought we were way too high since she had purchased the signs from an...

  8. Linear encoder strip?

It is an optical device, if you look closely it has lines (marks) on it that are read by a sensor, when it gets dirty your prints will start to skew as they print. Keep it clean and you should not have any problems with it.
  9. The Local Competition

I think I will fire my contractor I sub out installs and electrical work to and hire those guys, looks like I could save a ton of money!! On second thought I like sleeping at night and will keep my fully licensed, insured, bonded, trained, equiped installation contractor! Though I too get...
  10. Speed

I am most productive from 7am to 8:30 am and 5:30pm till I go home, during the day the biggest time waste is price shoppers who never call back and the people who come in the store asking directions, drives me bats. I guess they think that a sign shop should know where everything is located.

  15. LED Window Sign Sales

We have two LED displays in our store window, but get very little interest in them. We use them to display what can be displayed as well as promote our business. On both we have a line "LED signs sold here". Although we have sold a couple, we do not get much interest, and price has been a...
  16. Panel Saw

We have the Saw Trax and use it all the time. Can't compare to any others, but well satisfied with it. We recently purchased the dibond cutting attachment from Saw Trax that fits in where the saw goes. Works fairly well, but the handle bracket is too light and is bending with the use to push...
  17. How do you store your vinyls...

For the colored vinyl rolls we have the metal racks (available from all the sign supply houses) that are free standing. For all the digital rolls we have 2x8's on the wall that are notched with clothes hanger rods that we put the rolls on when not in use. And with 3 of the free standing vinyl...
