Just wondering if anyone has any idea what this font is?
  5. Maps on business cards and postcards

Haven't had anything I've had to correct and it's quite accurate for everything around here - Alberta Canada. Hope they didn't have anything to do with Apple Maps. Dan
  6. Maps on business cards and postcards

Here's what I use: http://www.openstreetmap.org/ Allows you to save a map as a PDF that can be imported into your design program allowing the vectors to be extracted. Check it out. Well worth signing up if you need maps for whatever reason. Dan
  7. Poll: Are you printing CMYK, or RGB files from Versaworks?

If you're using Windows 7 you probably want to have your "color engine" set to "Microsoft WCS" instead of "None". Dan
  8. Poll: Are you printing CMYK, or RGB files from Versaworks?

Number one reason is that the sRGB color space is closest to what the Roland Wide Format Digital Printer is capable of producing (the printer's "gamut"). There are many CMYK color spaces to choose from but most people tend to use the U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 color space. The Roland is NOT an...
  9. Pro Outline Vs. Mr. Clipart

I prefer Art Station just for the way they group their drawings. When you "ungroup" a PVO drawing it ungroups everything. In Art Station every view is a sub-group. Dan
  10. Poll: Are you printing CMYK, or RGB files from Versaworks?

sRGB has the gamut that corresponds closest to the output of a Roland Wide Format Digital Printer. Unless you have a monitor that can actually see all the colors available in aRGB (they're available but they're mighty pricely) then you're best to stick with sRGB. The Roland Wide Format Digital...
  11. Printing Red

r=222 g=0 b=0 Play around with the "r" value. Anything from 220-235 gives an nice deep red. dan
  12. Print to Plot Issues. Mimaki Summa

As far as I can tell you're not doing anything wrong. The Summa should be able to follow your CutContour line even though you can't see it. If it does print then you did do something wrong. Dan
  13. Showroom Digs

    Classy! Dan
  14. Laminator?????????????????

Not only do you not need heat you DON'T want heat. If you use the heat it will stretch the laminate and after a bit the laminate will want to revert back to it's original dimensions. Your vinyl will almost surely curl back sometime after it's been applied. Don't ask how I know this. Dan
  15. Rich black and Versaworks

+1 to that! Couldn't agree with you more. Dan
  16. $15.00 sf ??

Reminds me of a time many years ago when I was sitting in the barber's chair getting a haircut. A guy sticks his head in the door and asks, "How much are your haircuts?" The barber answers back, "Fifteen bucks." The guy at the door replies, "Fifteen bucks! Guy down the street does them for...
  17. Color Management

I have heard of G7 but wouldn't you think that's a bit of overkill for what the OP is trying to achieve? Many sign shops are one and two man operations that just want a workflow that works without the workflow itself being work. True enough. There's a LOT more reasons why this is a good habit...
  18. Color Management

You should match the ICC profile in Versaworks to your working colour space. That being said, you should also have Versaworks set to use the embedded profile. As to assigning aRGB 1998 to a U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 profile embedded in your input file you're rolling the dice. Colours that are...
